There’s a certain peace that comes at the end of January; a silence unheard for 6 weeks straight. Finally, it’s back to school time!
The lunchboxes may be packed and pencil cases fully stocked, but are you prepared for when your little miss is screaming for an Elsa-inspired braid? If your answer is no, we’ve got your sanity-saving guide to easy hairstyles.
From up-do’s to rival the Disney princesses to time saving hair tools, there’s a style for every level of at-home hairdresser. Now to find those hair elastics…
1. The 1-Minute Wonder Tool
For the ultimate hair-hack for a Cinderella style, you can’t go past a classic bun. As seen at the Golden Globe Awards on ‘Into The Woods’ Anna Kendrick, your pampered princess will be looking enchanted with a slicked-back style. Place it high for ballerina chic or at the nape of the neck for shorter hair. Once secured in a ponytail, place the hair through the bun maker and cover it evenly in a circular motion. Secure with bobby-pins and you’re out the door!

2. Do The Twist
Short hair doesn’t have to be boring. Dead-straight or curly, this side-twist works on every hair type and texture. Vary the amount of hair in the twist to make the locks look fuller, or try a middle part with one on either side. Hair accessories are also never a bad addition.
3. The Wrap-Around
A style so versatile it can be done on any hair length. Great for hot days and pulling back front fringes for the dreaded school photographs. Once your tiny tot has picked out her favourite headband, twist small strands around and under the band to create a woven effect.
4. Milkmaid Braid
For a style reminiscent of Belle from Beauty and the Beast, milkmaid braids are an easy option. Long hair works best for this style, as it requires two plaits to stretch across the top of the head. Fasten the two plaits to opposite sides of the head with bobbypins, and you’ve got yourself a beauty.
Rescu. Loves: Lady Jane’s Tangleze removes any pesky knots to make the plait silky-smooth. RRP $12.99 from Priceline
5. Like A Princess
Elegant and fuss-free, this is the hairstyle to rule them all. Separate two sections with a hairband, a plait here and a few twists there, and you’re done! This quick style can be created on any hair length, but for day when you’ve got a few extra minutes (luck you!), curl the ends first.
6. Fuss-Free Frozen Braid
It wouldn’t be a complete guide without Elsa’s trademark textured braid. The key is to backcomb from the roots before beginning the braid to add extra volume and texture. Ideal for costume parties and dress-up days, feel free to accessorise your masterpiece with an icy-blue ribbon.
