Long gone are the days of having to go under the knife to find real anti-ageing results. Fillers, lasers, and a little bit of botox can go a long way, and with new techniques and technologies arising all the time, there are more options for women who want to reclaim their youth.
Top US anti-ageing expert and dermatologist Dr Vic Narurkar is one the world’s authorities on sculpting without the scalpel. As the worldwide pioneer of several cosmetic procedures, fillers and laser devices including Fraxel and Clear + Brilliant, his words speak volumes and he was recently voted one of the “Best Doctors in America” by his peers.
During a recent trip to Australia, we invited Dr Narurkar to the Rescu. couch to share some of his advice for women looking for a subtle shape up. Watch the full interview below…
Words of wisdom from Dr Narurkar:
On the trend of less is more: “Every day I’ll see somebody who says, ‘please don’t make me look like an alien, I want to look youthful and revived without being ‘done’’. And whether you’re in the Silicon Valley or you’re in Hollywood, the trend if less is more using these are artistic tools to sculpt the face as opposed to over-filling, over-freezing, or even over-lasering a person.”
On new techniques: “Even five years ago we had limited tools in our palette, now we have so many different ones that we can actually sculpt the face as opposed to just fill the face. We can actually relax the face.”
On botox: “The number one reason women come to my office is the brow. Shaping the brow, lifting the brow, softening the brow, and not just chasing ‘the 11s.”
”We’ve shifted away from freezing to relaxing and also doing a bit more pan-facially so there’s a balance. You have a balance between the upper face, the lower face, and the neck so we know exactly where to put the botox and the fillers to do that.”
On lower face advancements: “That’s where we’ve had some amazing advances in the lower face. That’s where women and men would come to me and say I’m feeling jowly, this is not bouncing back like it used to, but I really don’t want a facelift…”
“The first thing we have is Thermage. It’s come a long way with the vibration hand piece. That gives you that gradual improvement in the contouring of the jawline and then doing the full face from the forehead to the neck gives that global lift. The two other exciting things we have is putting in some filler. When you put fillers along the temple and the cheek, that also lifts the jowls….”
“The piece de resistance, the hot new thing on the block is the FDA recently approved product called Kybella. Kybella is the first in-class injectable to treat submental fat or so–called double chin.”
