One day down for New York fashion week and it’s already becoming clear that we’re going to be wearing aqua. At least on our lids. But if Spanish designer David Delfin has anything to do with it, we’ll be wearing it from head to toe as well.
With his highly structured tailoring and androgynous lines, this is a designer who possesses strictly modern views. Delfin dished out shirts, pants and ties in equal measure to both girls and guys to give this Day 1 show a decidedly surreal note. And lets not forget about the heavy doses of aqua (try as I might, I can’t stop thinking about the crew onboard the Star Trek Enterprise).
For those of us who like to look more feminine, there were also some standout dresses that showed off the designer’s draping skills – even if we did only get to choose from black or aqua, or a combination of the two. It’s early days yet, but right now I’m coveting that black strapless draped mini…
On the topic of the make-up and hair, I can’t say that I’ll be succumbing to aqua eyes anytime soon. Sorry. But what I do want to try is the hair. Last season it was all about that “swimming pool” look of slicked back hair with free-flowing ends, but this deep, deep slicked-down side part at Davidelfin has me thinking about a new hair approach come summer. Minimalist yet so minxy, it makes me want to go and grab the pot of wet-look gel right now.
