It’s a boy!
Australian smallscreen star Asher Keddie has given birth to her first child with artist husband Vincent Fantauzzo.

The news, confirmed by the Keddie’s agent, revealed the little bundle of joy slipped under the radar, with the birth taking place last week. “Both Keddie and Fantauzzo welcomed a healthy little boy last week and the couple are thrilled and enjoying their downtime,” the agent said.
The actress, 40, showed off her prominent baby bump at the GQ Awards last year in November in an elegant, tight-fitted black gown. She gushed at the time “We’re really excited and can’t wait … I just feel good now.” Aside from the dairy and pistachio cravings, Keddie pronounced that the lead up to the birth was relatively normal.
Unlike her on-screen muse Nina Proudman, Keddie will be sharing the role of parenthood with her Fantauzzo after their secret barefoot wedding ceremony in Fiji last April.
Fans of the show Offspring will know all too well of Nina’s devastation after being left as a single mother following the tragic death of her partner Patrick, leaving her to raise her newborn child alone. “It was Offspring at its boldest, and most moving,” Keddie said of the season finale events. Needless to say, Asher Keddie’s life as a new mum will (hopefully) be worlds away from her scripted life.
With the pair both pursuing their artistic talents through their high-profile careers, we wonder if there will have to be a compromise to make room for the newest addition to their household.
“We’re just so focused on this at the moment that I don’t know what the future holds for me other than what we’re doing at the moment, and celebrating it,” Keddie, a Gold Logie winner, said. Well-known from her role on Offspring, Asher also dabbled in the world of politics last year, portraying an incumbent Victorian Labor Premier Kate Ballard on Party Tricks.
At this stage there has been no name reported for the baby boy, but we can only guess that it will have artistic flair given his parents. We may even see a portrait of the newest Keddie before official pictures are released; Fantauzzo entered his painting of wife Asher and won People’s Choice Award in the 2013 Archibald Prize. A painting of his 4-year-old-son Luca also took out the People’s Choice Award last year, immortalised with an innocent smile and superman cape draped over his shoulder.
And how are the pair adjusting to their newborn routine? “I’ve had to do a few midnight runs,” laughed Fantauzzo. While we’re yet to see images of the bundle of joy, it seems he’s already a handful!
