To really tag a beauty product as an “innovation”, for me, it has to go above and beyond to cement itself a place in my carefully curated beauty bag.
Here are my top three innovations for 2014:
We can thank the instant photo generation for the rise and rise of the blur cream. The step beyond BB’s and CC’s, think of the blur cream as your soft focus lense of the HD of every day life. My newest pick is the L’Oréal Paris Skin Perfection Nude Magique Blur Cream that does everything it claims it will – shock, horror! Optical blurring polymers and a velvety texture blends easily to create a picture perfect canvas for your foundation, or leave it as is for weekend-wear. Lightweight with no greasy film and we’ve got ourselves a winner.
This year’s beauty innovations don’t just stop at skin savers and complexion perfecters; leave it to Lancôme to bring the next big “Yes!” in mascara. The Lancôme Gradiôise mascara combines a brush with high-tech bristles with never-before-seen curved stem. Dubbed the “Swan Neck” for it’s likeness to the gentle curve of the elegant bird, the wand will adapt to all of the eye’s curves to reach every last lash. It’s mascara with a science degree – the brush is positioned along the eye contour and is curved at 25 degrees to its axis, adapting to the contours of the face also. Ultra-black pigments, three flexible polymers for a 24 hour hold, and a rose cell extract to care for lashes round out the features that make this mascara one for the books.

Treatment lotions in the realm of anti-ageing are the way of the future. I’ll take any chance I can get to impart my pearls of anti-ageing-innovation-wisdom to the nearest listener – and the Estée Lauder Micro Essence Skin Activating Treatment Lotion is currently circling my radar with high frequency. Designed to strengthen the skin’s foundation with micro power to reveal a translucent glow from withi , the Micro Essence has been developed to improve on these nine characteristics for a youthful, angelic glow: clearer skin, more radiant, even-toned, refine texture, smooth, supple and silky to the touch, stronger barrier, more comfortable, reduced fine lines and hydrated skin. I suggested using it in conjunction the Advanced Night Repair for awe-inspiring results.
Watch Emma Charlotte Bangay discuss this beauty innovation and why it’s an essential step to add to your skincare regime.
