Summer is nearly here and It’s time to whip out the blender and create some refreshing and nutrient-rich smoothies! Smoothies are a quick and easy way to make a delicious breakfast that can fuel you through the day and keep you feeling cool in summer. Here are three of my favourite cleansing smoothie recipes taken from my 21-Day Summer Cleanse Program.
1. Pineapple Vanilla Mint Smoothie
Brighten up your morning with this tropical smoothie. Rich in anti-inflammatory properties found in the bromelain of the pineapple. This smoothie is a perfect start to your morning.
INGREDIENTS
– 1 teaspoon chia seeds (soaked in coconut milk the night before)
– 1/2 cup fresh coconut milk
– 1 cup of chopped frozen pineapple pieces
– 1/4 teaspoon vanilla bean powder
– 1 handful fresh mint leaves
– for protein: 1 level tablespoon collagen hydrolysate powder or 3 ice cubes plain frozen beef bone stock or 1 raw, whole pastured egg or 1 level tablespoon organic spirulina
METHOD
1. Place all the ingredients into a blender.
2. Top the rest of your smoothie with extra coconut milk, filtered or spring water to get it moving if you need.
3. Blend and drink immediately.
2.Berry Basil Smoothie
The perfect balance of herbs and fruit, sweet and savory, this smoothie is your antioxidant breakfast booster with a difference.
INGREDIENTS
– ½ cup frozen berries
– sprinkle black pepper
– 2 fresh basil leaves
– ¼ teaspoon vanilla bean powder
– ½ cup fresh coconut or almond milk
– 1 tablespoon collagen hydrolysate powder or 3 ice cubes frozen plain, beef
– bone stock
optional: 1 teaspoon chia seed or psyllium husk powder soaked in coconut or almond milk the night before
METHOD
1. Place all the ingredients into a blender
2. Top the rest of your smoothie with filtered or spring water.
3. Blend and drink immediately.
3. Papaya Turmeric Ginger Smoothie
Enjoy a cup of sunshine with this health promoting smoothie. The papaya is high in vitamin C and great for digestion. The turmeric has been traditionally used for its anti-inflammatory therapies.
INGREDIENTS
– ¾ cup frozen papaya
– ½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger root
– ¼ teaspoon turmeric root powder
– ½ cup fresh coconut or almond milk
– 1 tablespoon collagen hydrolysate powder or 3 ice cubes frozen plain, beef
– bone stock
– optional: 1 teaspoon chia seed or psyllium husk powder soaked in coconut or almond milk the night before
METHOD
1. Place all the ingredients into a blender
2. Top the rest of your smoothie with filtered or spring water.
3. Blend and drink immediately.
TIPS
– To turn this into a thick Smoothie Bowl add extra: 1 tablespoon of psyllium husks or extra chia seeds, that have been soaked overnight in water and/or 1 tablespoon of dried coconut flakes or desiccated coconut.
– If you are a vegetarian add 1 level tablespoon of spirulina powder to replace raw egg, bone stock or collagen.
– Try other sweet spices from the Ovvio Organics Collection: Cinnamon Powder or All Things Nice Powder (a blend of nutmeg, allspice, stevia, vanilla and cinnamon).
