Jeans to your wardrobe are as common (and necessary) as caffeine to your morning routine – in other words, it’s safe to say that almost every woman owns and wears at least one pair of jeans.
Jeans have been a forefront wardrobe staple over the past 144 years since their debut on the fashion scene in 1972 when Levi’s first planted the seed of denim success. Since then, we’ve watched the trends of denim develop over the decades of its reign – some statement making denim duos (aka Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake circa 2001) truly establishing the denim dos and don’ts that remain true today.
However, buying jeans is never as easy as it seems. Too loose around the waist? Too tight around the calves? Too short? Too long? Not stretchy enough? Not comfortable to your body size? Do any of these ring true or sound familiar?
Target has just released new research that exposes the real reason that women hate shopping for jeans. Despite the endless number of brands and styles available on the market, the survey found that 88% of Australian women can’t seem to find a pair of jeans that fit just right. In fact, over 77% of women say that the process of searching for jeans makes them feel bad about themselves.
The findings also showed the nearly half (47%) of women agree that shopping for jeans actually puts them in a bad mood, leaving them feeling frustrated (51%), overweight (46%) and like they don’t have the ‘right’ body type (40%) when unable to find jeans that fit.
On the other hand, when jeans fit well, women felt satisfied (62%) and more attractive (33%), 50% felt more self confident and 48% felt better about their body type.
Without a doubt, denim can be a tough cookie to crack – so we’ve created a guide to picking the perfect pair for your body type. Say goodbye to denim blues and say hello to the joys of blue denim.
