Jesinta Campbell is poised, elegant, eloquent and active – the epitome of the Aussie woman. As we enjoy watching her trajectory from Miss Australia to style crush (and one half of the country’s cutest couples – she just announced her engagement to Sydney Swans star Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin) – let’s take pause to find out what makes up this gorgeous girl’s wellbeing, style and beauty routine.
BEAUTY:
A fan of trying new cosmetic and colour combinations, Jesinta is often spotted with a new lip shade to lust after; from plums to pinks and reds to nude “all suit and really shine with her playful features,” notes her go-to makeup artist, Michael Brown.
For eyes, Michael says that Jesinta loves the smoky look, blending bronze and copper tones – with no distinct lines – back with a full lash, “Brows are a big focus as Jesinta loves to frame her face even if a nude look is being worn,” notes Michael, adding that for foundation, Jesinta opts for mineral foundation that are as natural as possible too. For cheeks and lips, she loves anything that has a stain effect, like cream blush, a lip stain or even creamy eye shadow. The effect, explains Michael, “is as if the makeup is coming from within, not placed on top of her skin.
In her beauty bag you will find Lucas Paw Paw ointment – which she uses anywhere and everywhere, that could be a tad dry and even sometimes as a highlighter above cheekbone – YSL Touché Éclat and her pop of lip colour for that day. “The most common one in her bag is an orange base red from Aveda,” Michael reveals. “She loves the feel on her lips being non drying.”
When it comes to skin, Jesinta keeps it simple, but systematic. “I cleanse and moisturize every night and exfoliate once a week as I am prone to the odd breakout. I also never go to bed with my makeup on.”
WELLBEING:
Jesinta’s happy place is a healthy one. Whether its going for a run – she just completed the City2Surf – downing a green smoothie or stretching, this is one vibrant, life-loving gal – and it shows, inside and out. The key? Lots of water, heaps of sleep, loads of green vegies and daily exercise.
“I grew up on the Gold Coast and I love being outdoors,” she has said of her natural love of getting outside and getting going early each day. Now based in Sydney with her boyfriend, she is still drawn to any outdoor expanse – from local Bondi Beach to the inner city botanical gardens – to up her exercise ante. Alternatively, a boxing, spin or Pilates class is used as a time to catch up with friends in between her whirlwind travel schedule. “The trick to sticking to an exercise routine is to make it fun!” she has said. “I love the feeling after getting up in the morning and going for a run or going to the gym. It kick starts your metabolism and I feel revitalized and full of energy!”
With a fridge bursting with natural wholefoods, Jesinta often whips up green smoothies and healthy snacks she can grab on the go. “I absolutely love food and I love cooking and experimenting with new things!” Jesinta has said. She reportedly starts the day with a freshly squeezed juice with lots of ginger and a yummy Quinoa porridge with cinnamon and a drizzle of honey. Lunch osculates seasonally between salads, sushi and soup and a seafood dinner – rich in Omega 3s – is a menu staple.
With such a balanced, wholesome lifestyle as a template, Jesinta is never shy of indulging in dessert. And when it consists of berries, goats milk yoghurt with a licorice tea; she can be excused, right?
STYLE:
From pageantry to a Pinterest regular based on her honed fashion choices, Jesinta is a lovely breath of fresh air when it comes to fresh young fashion, without showing too much flesh. She continues to take chances on the red carpet, switching from sophisticate to sex kitten from one week to the next, but always maintaining one consistency – elegance.
“I love to shop at little boutique stores and support young up-and-coming Australian designers,” she has said, noting that she is passionate about supporting homespun fashion. “I also love to raid op shops and the odd market to find that extra special one-off piece that no one has.”
A fan of ankle boots – “the mascara of shoes!” – Jesinta calls on them as a quick fix to ramp any ensemble up a notch. “They make a casual outfit a little dressier and you instantly feel glamorous.”
Having featured as a brand ambassador for Harris Scarfe and face – and body – of ASICS, Jesinta is a big advocate for dressing for her casual – but cool – lifestyle. She switches it up a notch for spring racing season – calling on favored milliners like Kerrie Stanley, Richard Nylon and Nerida Winter – but catch her on a Sunday morning and the only hat she will have on is no doubt a cap to work back with track-pants and hoodie attire, she says. “ On my days off I live in my workout gear!”
