Some of you may have been too busy counting down the hours, minutes, seconds until the Easter long weekend to have noticed that the Fashion Week Australia schedule has been announced in full. Kicking off on Sunday the 12th of April and finishing up on Thursday the 16th of April, the schedule features all the usual suspects,a few noticeably absents, and a smattering of unexpected arrivals.
Ellery have taken the coveted opening slot on Sunday evening with a show that is presented by Mercedes-Benz while Johanna Johnson secured the closing show on Thursday night.
Tome, a brand that has never shown on the official schedule, will be making their mark with the first scheduled show on Monday morning in a lineup that includes more than 50 designers in total over the four days.
Carriageworks in Sydney’s Eveleigh will again host most of the shows, with a number of designers choosing off-site venues. We Are Handsome have opted to show at the White City Tennis Club in Paddington, Ten Pieces have opted for a Bondi Icebergs backdrop, and Romance Was Born, Stevie May and Michael Lo Sordo have all indicated offsite venues by invitation only.
The 2015 Australian Fashion Week marks the 20th year for the event, a major milestone for both the event itself and for fashion as an industry in Australia. While so much has changed over the years, at its very core the event is still about our homegrown designers putting their every bit of adrenaline and creativity into creating a show that stuns and we can’t wait to see what this year delivers.
