This modern day When Harry Met Sally takes a look at friendship, sex and general stupidity when it comes to relationships.

In college, Lainey (Alison Brie) and Jake (Jason Sudeikis) find themselves stuck together for the evening after he helps her escape security amidst a jealous rage aimed at her teaching assistant.
Both are reluctant virgins, and decide to make the most of their chance meeting to correct the situation.
Years later, having struggled with their respective relationships, they encounter one another at a sex addicts meeting, where a beautiful friendship is formed. They may be terrible at romantic relationships, but they clearly know how to be there for one another.
It’s clear to everyone but them that they are the perfect match, and the rest of the film is spent taking the audience through a series of awkward jokes and doomed dates until they, too, realise this.
Sleeping with Other People argues the familiar line that men and women simply can’t be friends. Its basic premise reflects the overall feeling of the film itself—it’s simple and unsophisticated.
While there are funny moments, they are also predictable, and the film never really elevates to a level of either hysterical laughter or genuine warmth. It’s easy viewing for those who like their rom-coms a little more sexually explicit and a little less original.
