Anyone who’s ever ended up with Shirley Temple curls knows that wielding a curling iron can be harder than it looks. Soft, flowing curls are one of our favourite looks, but getting that casual tousled look (with just a hint of glammed-up diva) is an art.
When we saw Isla Fisher’s luscious loose curls at this year’s Cannes Film Festival we just had to know how to get them. Here are some top tips on how to get the look with Australia’s Next Top Model Hair Director for TRESemme, Troy Thompson.
Here’s how to get the look with Australia’s Next Top Model Hair Director for TRESemme, Troy Thompson.
Step 1: Start off by prepping damp hair. Rescu. recommends: TRESemmé Thermal Creations Heat Tamer Protect Spray ($7.99) for shine and protection.
Step 2: Blow dry your hair, using a round brush to create optimum volume.
Step 3: Working in sections, use a wide barrelled curling tong to create the curls. When curled, re-curl and pin onto the head to allow to cool.
Step 4: Leave for approximately 15 minutes and then spritz lightly with hairspray. Rescu. recommends: TONI&GUY Glamour Firm Hold Hairspray ($15.99)
Step 5: Un-pin the curls and allow them to fall. Try not to play around with your hair too much as you don’t want to separate the curls too much or create frizz. This look is very polished and glossy, so work a very small amount of smoothing product onto palms and gently smooth over curls. Rescu. recommends: Joico K-PAK Smoothing Balm ($27.95)
