This season’s polished fashion calls for catwalk couture hair. The trend is touchable, moveable hair with added shine. Dream girl hair we all want.
Rescu. asked Terri Robertson-Kirkwood, Aveda’s Creative Director for David Jones Autumn Winter Show, to share her tips to create runway hair from home.
“The look embraces a bold, independent woman who is fluid and beautiful, the texture is slick and shiny on the crown moving to a more natural, loose texture and is a nod to the strong and impressive styles showcased on the runway this season” Says Terri.
Follow Terri’s steps below to re-create this look with the right products and tools:
Step 1: Start by prepping damp hair with a coin size amount of leave in treatment to ensure your hair won’t experience any torture and tear. Run the product through mid-lengths and ends, then create a defined middle part using a fine toothed comb.
Step 2: Spray hair roots to ends with a volumising tonic. Backstage, Terri used Aveda Volumizing Tonic to help build body and add shine.
Step 3: Use a pea size amount of shine spray or serum and apply to the part and crown of your head to create softness to the touch and enhance shine.
Step 4: Blowdry hair in rough sections in a downwards motion.
Expert Advice: Choose a slow speed with high heat when blowdrying for more control. Pay extra attention on grooming the hair without effecting the volume.
Step 5: At the hairline (in front of your ear) take out two small (1cm) sections and then tuck the rest of your hair behind your ears. Spray a light hair spray such as Aveda Air Control to set the top of the hair. Twist the two separated sections, then pull back and secure with elastic at the back of your head.
Step 6: Tilt your head back and puff Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo inot the back of the hair to enhance natural volume and texture.
Step 7: Finish with a slip of Aveda Damage Remedy Split End Repair on the very ends of your hair to add extra polish, binding any split ends back together for beautiful, touchable hair.
