Following rumours , Charlie Sheen revealed in an interview with Matt Lauer on yesterday’s episode of the Today Show that he is HIV-positive.
Sheen told Lauer “I’m here to admit that I am in fact HIV-positive, I have to put a stop to this onslaught, this barrage of attacks and sub-truths and very harmful and mercurial stories that are about threatening the health of so many others, which couldn’t be farther from the truth.”
Sheen announced he was diagnosed with the virus 4 years ago, after suffering from debilitating migraines and night sweats. He further stated, “It’s a hard three letters to absorb.”
The actor further declared on the Today show that he had to pay an estimated cost upwards of $10 million to keep the secret silent over these years.
Sheen admitted that while he hasn’t knowingly transmitting the disease, he did engage in unprotected sex two times after learning of the disease – both people aware of his status ahead of time.
He further comments saying that by coming out to the public, he hopes it will reduce the stigma attached to the disease and further hopes others too will come forward.

Hollywood has been in a buzz over reports that Charlie Sheen will make the announcement that he is HIV- positive on the Today show.
Entertainment media outlet Variety has revealed that Charlie Sheen is set to make a “revealing personal announcement” in a tell-all exclusive interview with Matt Lauer live from New York City that will air in the US later today.
Although NBC hasn’t provided any leads or specifics about what Sheen’s announcement will entail, mass media outlets have been revealing Sheen’s HIV-positive news.
In 2011 Sheen appeared on Good Morning America addressing rumours about a bi-polar disorder, following being fired from his famed television series, Two and A Half Men. The rumour mill spins wild over speculations of these acting as cover up stories.
Sheen’s publicist and crisis manager Howard Bragman told People that this “has been going on for quite awhile. He’s not necessarily comfortable talking about it.” He further added that Sheen has been receiving ongoing treatment and that both his loved ones and close friends have known about the diagnosis for quite some time.
According to a close friend of the celeb, “Charlie thought he was indestructible and took no precautions – even though he was indulging in high-risk sex practices.”
Sheen’s ex-wife, actress and former fashion model Denise Richards, has been aware of the disease for years and sources say that Richards and her two daughters are not infected with the virus – the actor reportedly contracted HIV after their divorce back in 2006.

The interview will follow a series of stories speculating over the identity of a celebrity who had been hiding an HIV-diagnosis from his partners over several years.
The reveal that will take place on November 17th in Australia (November 18th US time) will expose a “multi-million dollar cover-up” according to the Enquirer.
