Welcome to the last month of the year!

As you head towards the end of 2018, it’s time to be grateful for all the good you enjoyed this year, and to decide what you want for yourself in 2019. Do this with a pen and paper, and make some actual plans. A new more enjoyable cycle is starting. Commit to doing more of what make you feel good.

Mercury’s movements

The month starts with Mercury retrograding back into Scorpio

As regular readers will know, Mercury retrograde started on November 17. (It began the day after Venus retrograde finished!)

As November begins, Mercury is in the sign of Scorpio but on December 1, retrogrades further back into the previous sign of Sagittarius. So wherever you have Sagittarius in your chart (we all have all 12 signs of the zodiac in our chart) is where you are getting a second chance.

Then at the end of the first week, Mercury retrograde ends

Note that on December 7 (December 6 in the northern hemisphere) Mercury retrograde finally comes to an end, for this cycle. So that’s the good news for anyone who has been waiting for this cycle to conclude.

But not so fast! It’s important to allow a few days to pass before you start to consider Mercury retrograde well and truly over. In fact some purists say that Mercury retrograde isn’t over until Mercury has gone beyond the point where it was when it started to retrograde. In this case, that point is 13 Sadge. That actually won’t happen until Christmas Day! More about this next month.

Here is where Mercury is for you as the month opens.

Think about what it means for you on as deep a level as you can. (Read your Rising Sign if you know it, for even more accurate guidance). (If you don’t know your Rising Sign but you would like to, you can do your chart for free here)

The part of your chart related to Children, Creativity and Romance. Mercury retrograde could cause you some mayhem, it’s true. Just say you’re trying to decide whether or not to have (more) kids. Mercury going backwards now could leave you feeling initially more confused than ever. Ditto if you’re wondering what on earth is going on in your romantic life and what you should do about it. There is no doubt that Mercury in reverse means you might feel as though the second you come to a decision, some new information comes in and you have to think it all through again. Chaos and mayhem, indeed. However, once this cycle is finally over, you will have had the Planet of the Mind Mercury wearing a beaten path in this part of your chart – in other words, you’ll have had so much time to think and rethink your options, you might find that your finally ready to make a decision – one which you’ll eventually be happy to stick to. Good luck! Where creative projects are concerned, think of the next few weeks as a chance to rethink and revise. Make sure you save your original copy – you might not think much of the revisions you come up with at first. However, as with the above, the final revisions you come to once this Mercury retrograde is over could be exactly what you were hoping for. Creatively, do be experimental and patient with yourself.

Remember that Mercury is the planet of the mind, so it’s time for you to have a last final think about something and then as the retrograde ends, allow some time to pass. Expect the info you need to make a decision to come to you – consciously create it.

In a completely different way, Venus also enters Scorpio.

Venus will be moving forwards as She moves into the sign of Scorpio. Venus is the Goddess of the skies. Venus is the feminine principle, in a different way than the Moon is all about the feminine. The third part of the trilogy in Black Moon Lilleth, but She’s another story.
Venus in Scorpio could be seen as “the angry beauty”. If you want to apply a Goddess energy, you couldn’t really go past Kali, the blue-faced, blood-thirsty and scary Goddess. Kali is Shakti in radiant warrior form.
On a more earthly level, Venus in Scorpio is a time when love can get down and dirty, in an underhand or a sexy way. Your call. Sort of depends on who you love, right?

Here’s where Venus in Scorpio is for you:

Fun-loving Venus is now moving through your fifth house of fun. And if you think that sounds like a good double whammy, you’re right. There nothing that the planet of pleasure, Venus, likes more than enjoying herself. And as she goes through your House Of Fun, having a good time is her Number 1 Mission. And it can be yours, too. Live a little, as they say! If you needed some kind of excuse to stop worrying and start indulging, you have it; Venus in this part of your chart means you are almost duty-bound to work less and to spoil and amuse yourself more. This Venus cycle is also good news for singles looking to meet someone, because your fifth house rules romance – of the light-hearted variety. Certainly, if there were ever a time to get out there and shimmy your shui, this is that time. Couples don’t miss out, either. If you don’t find some of the old romance seeping back into your relationship over the next four weeks, it might be time to start talking to each other about your romantic expectations. Romance each other. This transit is also excellent for anyone with issues connected to children (your own or someone else’s). Any child-related issues should be more easily negotiated and resolved. Good news really is possible. Ditto if you are working on an artistic or creative project. Your ability should be extra high – now all you need to do is discipline yourself to harness your extra creative ability!

Earlier this year, Venus went backwards – reversing as she does about once every 18 months. It’s all part of a new cycle which began at the last Venus retrograde in the sign of Aries 18 months before that.

Life goes in cycles! That’s on thing astrology teaches us.

There’s isn’t a lot happening the skies this month compared to recently. There have been so many big planetary changes affecting us all one way or another recently. Last month alone we had the move of lucky Jupiter into Sagittarius which is hopefully going to help deliver us all a happy silly season and into next year.

Where The Sun Is Shining

The next big planetary move of December is the Sun into the sign of Capricorn. You can think of the Sun as a sort of spotlight and whenever it changes signs, as it does once a month, it shines a spotlight on a different part of your chart. For example, it could be on your Love Zone or your Career Zone. Here’s where the spotlight is for you for December (and always is!)

The Sun now moves into your 7th house, aka Your House Of Love. Over the next four weeks, you can expect love to rise to the top of your agenda. Someone Else is going to be very important, taking up a lot of your headspace. This could be a lover, an ex or a potential new partner. The best lessons you are going to get now are going to be through your most important one to one relationships. Do as much as you can with someone by your side over the next month – partnerships will lead you in the right direction, whereas going it alone won’t feel so good. On another note, this astro-event can bring enemies out of the woodwork. If you need to bury the hatchet with someone, now is the time.

The Sun in Capricorn of course goes with the end of the year and covers Christmas Day. (If Jesus really was born on December 25, he was a Capricorn not a Pisces, as people often assume, since Pisces is the super-spiritual sign and the mystical last sign of the zodiac.)

And speaking of Christmas Day…

The lead up to Christmas is bound to be a bit weird. There is a strange Mercury square to Neptune which could mean some confusion around —- everything! Given the recent Mercury retrograde, it could be “mystery solved” for some people, but most likely it will just be oddness in the air, which thankfully clears before Christmas lunch, pretty much no matter where you live in the world.

We will be in the waning cycle of the Moon, which is more of a yin time. In the northern hemisphere, it will be time to hunker down during the dark months, in the southern hemisphere, time to unfurl from the year.
The good news is that the first planetary alignment after Christmas Day is between Venus and Pluto and it’s harmonious. So there will be deep love, passion, good hotness, deep pockets and let’s say it again, deep love, in the air this Christmas. Boxing Day parties should be fun!

Where’s the Moon?

The New Moon this month takes place in the middle of Sagittarius and on December 7. A New Moon is always a new start – a fresh slate – so here is where it’s happening for you (remember to read your Rising Sign if you know it!)

Oh you lucky lucky thing! You have the New Moon in your 6th House this month. In one way, this is one of the most dull and tedious Houses. It’s the part of your chart which is all about your daily routines. Not exactly riveting! However, this is also the part of your chart where you get a New Moon and you get a chance to tweak your routines so that at the very least, your daily life runs in a way that pleases you. If there are minor changes you need to make to the way your life runs, to your routines and schedules, then this is a great month to put those changes in place.

The Full Moon will take place on December 23, the day before Christmas Eve. Click here for the times around the world. As it’s the last Full Moon of the year it’s really the ULTIMATE month of the year to do your Full Moon forgiveness.
More and more people are talking about how it’s so important to acknowledge the Dark Side (and we are not talking Star Wars). It’s our shadow side that Freud and Jung spoke about. I can’t pretend to know about them but I do know that basically forgiveness is THE KEY.

Here’s the thing … forgiveness cuts right to the heart of any matter, of any upset or karmic anything. Because it’s all about karma. Once we forgive OURSELVES and other people, we are basically clearer conscious creators. If we don’t forgive ourselves, we feel we are “not good enough” or “not worth”. We are all learning lessons all the time. So use this mighty end of year Full Moon and forgive yourself and anyone you can, in all directions of time, as I sometimes say.

Here’s a short Forgiveness Formula from my book Moonology.

Read it to yourself or out loud, alone or with friends around the time of the Full Moon when your emotions will be really close to the surface.

On the night of the Full Moon…

‘Under the glorious Full Moon, I forgive everything, everyone, every experience, every memory of the past or present that needs forgiveness. I forgive positively everyone. I also forgive myself of past mistakes. The Universe is love, and I am forgiven and governed by love alone. Love is now adjusting my life. Realizing this, I abide in peace.’

It’s so important at the end of the year, to wrap things up as much as you can. Some people are able to go to sleep and forgive and get over it (mostly they seem to be men!) If you can’t, use this last Full Moon of the year to forgive someone one from your heart. Imagine them in your mind’s eye and send them loving pink mist. You can’t imagine how much this can help! Anyone who has upset you and of no one has upset you, just send love to friends and family in your mind’s eye and from your heart.

If you want to go the whole hog, do some writing:
– Journal about it
– Write about it on your own personal blog if you have one
– Post something on Facebook
– Write a “Letter to 2018” and say what you think
– Do a gratitude list

A gratitude list?

A gratitude list is a list of – you guessed it – everything you are grateful for from 2019. Still want more? If you are seriously about consciously creating your life in 2019, make a Wish List for 2019. Write down your top ten goals, personal and professional.
What to do with the list? You can burn the list, or read it out loud at midnight as the New Year comes in and keep it where you will see it throughout 2019. Your choice. There are no rights and wrongs. In theory you are less attached if you burn it but my logical brain loves to see the lists later, when so much of them has manifested!

Have a wonderful end of the year and if I may be permitted to remind you, I have created the most gorgeous little 2019 Moonology Diary. It’s written for Australian, the UK and USA – you can find out about it here

Order before January 1 and you’ll get my New Moon Creative Visualisation meditation which you can listen to at every New Moon of 2019 and beyond!

Lastly, remember; forgiveness and gratitude. Put them on your New Year’s resolution list if you make one.
