Confusion and delays about a study or travel plan you have had on the boil should come to an end now. You have all the information you need to move things forward when it comes to some very Big Idea you’ve had, so be bold. At home, your family might act strangely sometimes (don’t they all?) but this month it really looks like they should be inspiring you and even leaving you feeling positively uplifted.
Power date: August 18 – a great day to decide to do more of what inspires you
So here we go into another eclipse month which means it’s quite likely to be at least as crazy as it’s been for the past few weeks. So many people are reporting that the life feels quite crazy right now. We have had the eclipses, we have had the change-maker planet Uranus changing signs quite recently and we have six planets retrograding this winter or summer, depending on where you are in the world.
If all that isn’t a recipe for madness, then I really don’t know what is!
All that is the background music as August kicks off. Think chaos, second chances, think new beginnings that come suddenly.
Added to all this, we have a very big clash between the retrograding angry planet Mars and the planet of chaos and madness, Uranus, at the very start of the month. You could say August starts with a bang not a whimper, that’s for sure. However forewarned is forearmed, so do what you can to stay on an even keel by meditating and breathing through dramas. There will be chaos. But as long as you try to stay calm and accept that it’s just part of the process as you settle into your new Uranus cycle, all should be well.
Life is a lot about routines, right? As much as we get to escape from reality from time to time, when we go on holidays and the like, life is largely a series of repeated timetables for the majority of us mere mortals. However here comes the planet of change, Uranus, into your Daily Life Zone, ready to shake things. Luckily most Sadges don’t crave being “settled” since that’s about the last word I’d use to describe your current outlook!
Just to keep you fully informed, it’s worth noting that in fact, Uranus has gone about as far into the sign of Taurus that it’s going to for this first foray. As of August 7, Uranus goes into a retrograde cycle, joining the five other planets also doing the same thing. Note that it’s for this reason that I’m calling this season the second chancesseason of second chances”! If you want a second chance personally or professionally, you could be about to get lucky. When planets reverse, we get to review, rethink, re-argue, re-dream and so on.
As for the Uranus retrograde, though, it has a secondary meaning. All the madness you’ve felt for the past few months? You’re about to go through a sort of “second version” of it. Some of the same weirdness could arise. People behaving erratically and so on, work issues spinning out of control. And yet, because this is the retrograde and because Uranus is going backwards and covering old ground in your chart, there is every chance you will know better how to handle it all.
So what about the Full Moon eclipse in Leo? It’s being news for everyone and not just for Leos! Thought if you happen to be Leo or Leo Rising (find out here for free) then yes, it’s extra big news!
Eclipses come along in pairs or threes or fours. In this current eclipse season, this New Moon eclipse is the third and last of the series which started in mid-July with the New Moon eclipse, then sparked again at the end of July with the Full Moon eclipse and now here we are with the New Moon eclipse again.
Remember this, New Moon eclipses are the bomb! They are THE time to start anything new. So if you’re launching any kind of new project now and can do it after the eclipse, then you will have amazing energies on your side.
Here are the eclipse times:
New Moon Eclipse on August 11 (Sydney) at 19 Leo
New Moon Eclipse details:
SYDNEY: August 11, 7.57pm
NEW YORK: August 11, 5.57am
LONDON: August 11, 10.57am
The New Moon is the time to set your intentions for the month ahead. By getting clear on what you want, you will effectively be sending out arrows of desire that cannot help but start to manifest. Of course you also need to work towards your dreams. For help getting started with your New Moon wishes, intentions and commitments, pick up my 100% New Moon Wishing Guide
So what can YOU do with the New Moon eclipse? That is a very good question!
Good news; the New Moon eclipse (which heralds beginnings and opportunities) is taking place in your Travel Zone. In other words, if what you really want to do is pack your cases (or backpack) and head off into the blue yonder, the Stars are totally on your side. Ditto if you want to stay home and do some kind of self-improvement course (which could prove life-changing) and/or if you’re about to do some study. What you do in the next three to six months will change the way you view the world, so go with your heart and explore the options which most appeal to you. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!
The Full Moon this month is the first non-eclipse lunation we have had since mid-July.
Full Moon on August 26 (Sydney) at 4 Pisces
Full Moon details:
SYDNEY: August 26, 9.56pm
NEW YORK: August 26, 7.56am
LONDON: August 26, 12.56pm
The Full Moon is the time when your emotions come up to the surface for you to deal with them. If you work with them, you can clear yourself out energetically. The easiest way to do this is to make peace with the past, once a month at least. For help doing that, click here for my 100% free Full Moon Forgiveness Kit.
Remember, even a non-eclipse Full Moon turns up the volume on whatever else is going on in your life and whatever else is going on in the skies. This month, the Full Moon is taking place before and after some quite tense alignments.
Notably, right after the eclipse, there is a clash between Venus and Pluto; Venus being the planet of love and abundance, and Pluto being the powerful planet of paranoid obsession! In other words, there could be some rather intense times related to love, money and power this month!
Following on from the fact of the Venus/Pluto clash here are a few ideas to work with this Full Moon.
1. Forgive someone who hurt you – just let it go
2. Make sure you’re being super honest in your love life and when it comes to finances
3. Look at if you need to pare back your budget
4. Watch out for power struggles related to love or money
5. Avoid emotional entanglements – obsession isn’t healthy love!
(remember to read your Rising Sign if you know it for even more accuracy!)
The last few weeks have most likely seen you giving Number One priority to your career. If that’s the case, you can expect your personal life to start demanding some more of your attention now, as the Full Moon takes place across your career and family zones.
It’s all very fabulous doing brilliantly at work and getting kudos (or at least managing to hold your own). But don’t let your ego lead you into thinking that that’s the most important part of life. Because it’s just not. Sure, there will be time to start to focus again on your professional life, but right now, if you listen to the Stars, you will hear them reminding you to take care of your personal life.
The hardy warrior revisits an old battleground aka Mars revers into Cap
Also of great import astrologically this month, we get the continuation and then conclusion of the Mars retrograde cycle. Mars is the planet of anger and sex so among other things, there could be some old angry arguments coming up and there could be some sex with your ex! You have been warned!
From my Season of Second Chances free email series: As with all the retrogrades, this one is a double-edged sword. The upside is that Mars is the planet of anger, fighting, testosterone and blood. There is reason to hope that when the planet associated with the Roman God of war is reversing, people will lay down their guns, at least for a while. This can be literal or it can simply mean we are better able to control our angry impulses and draw breath before shouting!
When it comes to second chances, Mars retrograde offers the perfect opportunity to revisit a situation that went badly due to anger or stress. See how things go if you remain calm this time! Now is a good time to get back in touch with an ex, or a friend you fell out with. Professionally, this can be a good time to build bridges with a difficult colleague.
Mars is the warrior of the zodiac – whether you’re male or female, Mars is where you fight from. As Mars reverses, we could be re-waging old battles, so watch out if you sense that you’re being drawn back into an argument you really have had enough of. That said, if you need more energy and FIGHT, Mars retrograde has your back!
For you, Mars will be going backwards in your Second House. This suggests there could be some delays re your finances – specifically, cash, property and possessions are all a little more likely to be subject to delays. Try not to panic – a delay is not the same thing as a cancellation. Even if a payment is slow in coming, it should come eventually. This transit also sees you a little less likely than you were recently to go out and splurge on things you don’t need. Your bank balance will thank you at the end of this cycle, so don’t fight it. On a different level, this cycle can also affect your self-esteem and not necessarily in a great way. If you start to become a little bit too backwards in coming forwards, in other words, in selling yourself, talking yourself up, be careful. While no one likes a bragger, nor is it a good idea to be a self-deprecating shrinking violet!
If you’re a Mercury retrograde watcher, then you will be glad to hear that this cycle concludes on August 19. Which means that Mercury will be going backwards for MOST of August. In other words, most of what you do this month could end up having to be done again, in some way. Or maybe you’re already repeating something you did in a past Mercury retrograde cycle.
On the one hand, Mercury retrograde can be a time when communications and travel plans in particular go awry, and that does test the patience. So leave room for manoeuvre in your summer holiday itinerary and expect unexpected adventures. On the other hand, it’s also a brilliant cycle because it gives us all a chance to stop racing ahead mentally, to rethink and review. In terms of holiday plans, revisiting somewhere you love or seeing old friends is an ideal way to use the energies.
After the life should be a little easier to follow again! (Until the next retrograde period, anyway!) For you, Mercury has been going backwards in your NINTH HOUSE of travel, study, adventure and Life Philosophies. If you’ve been feeling like your study or travel plans have been on an endless repeat cycle and going nowhere fast, that was Mercury retrograde. Your life and plans will soon start to advance in the right direction and as that happens, you might even see how the delays of the past few weeks were actually to your benefit. This weekend, as Mercury changes directions, you allow for the possibility of one last blast of chaos. And after that? Expect study and travel plans to fall into place.
Also – information for all the signs – note that August brings an amazing Jupiter/Neptune connection. If it weren’t for the fact of the eclipse and all the retrogrades, this combo alone would have been the main headline of this month’s stars. As it is, you’re reading about it towards the end of the post because while it’s big, it’s just not as JARRING as the rest of the astrology for August.
What is does mean is that this month is ideal for connecting to Spirit, to the Divine, to Source. And how to do that? I don’t know any better way than to meditate. If you do know how to meditate, do it daily this month. And if you don’t know how, then make it a goal (a New Moon wish?) to learn. It will change your life! But learning it isn’t enough.
You also have to do it, to get the most out of it. Just saying.
The Jupiter/Neptune connection takes place on August 19, the same day that Mercury ends its reverse cycle. If you do nothing else that day, set aside time to
1. Just say “Ommmm…”
2. Make a list of what 1- things which would make you feel inspired
3. Work out how to do at least three of those things in the coming week
Finally, fyi, the planet of war and blood and sex and drive, Mars, ends his retrograde cycle on August 27.
All in all, it’s a potentially exciting month. Remember that being a New Moon eclipse month, it’s a time to BOLDLY stride into whatever future you want to create for yourself!
Questions you have been asking yourself about travel, study and/or teaching should be answered by the end of the month. This is a great time to start something new in any of those areas of life. Also, this month is ideal for you to start some kind of cosmic quest of self-discovery. Enlightenment beckons Sagittarians who seek it!
Have a great month!
