Good news: No matter who you are or what your star sign is, relationships which have been under strain for the past few months should start to move forwards again in April. The planet of love and relating to other people, aka Venus, has been in a rare retrograde cycle. As of April 15, that cycle is over.

When Venus goes backwards, we all start to ask ourselves how much someone or something really matters. It’s a very deep question. Who are you really friends with, in this new world of texting and social media? Are you being a good or a bad friend? Are you collecting people or making heart connections (not possible through a computer screen!)?

Whatever your answers, use the first two weeks to work on your most important relationships. If you need to forgive someone, do it. If you’re feeling pain, forgiveness really can help. Understand there could be a very important lesson in any romantic or friendship or even professional upsets for you at the moment. Can you see the lesson? If someone has been flicking you off them like a gnat, are you being too clingy? Are you in the relationship for the right reasons? Is Auld Lang Syne all that’s keeping you together? Or do you really care for someone and you jolly well need to let them know it more?

Whatever your answers, are you determined to learn from whatever you have been through and use it in the future? Then you have made the most of Venus retrograde.

And if you have a hurt that you can’t seem to heal, try chanting. Really. It’s very powerful. The Sanskrit words “Om shakti” said over and over again can be very soothing. It’s said that these ancient sounds create a powerful healing vibration in the body. Can’t hurt to try it! (Chant silently or out loud.)

Also be aware that Venus will clash with Saturn on April 21 which is tough. If you’re feeling unloved, make sure you don’t go out looking for more evidence that you’re right! If you have had some tough love or friendship lessons recently, there could be a echo here somehow. Your job is to show you have learned your lessons about love. The sooner you learn them, the sooner you will not have to keep attracting partners sent to teach you those lessons.

After April 21, we are moving into easier Venus times. Here is where Venus will be going forwards for you, as of April 15.

Home and/or family may well have been a source of tension for you during the past retrograde cycle – even if you got on well with some people, there were others who were playing up or acting out! Hopefully the whole thing gave you a chance to really re-evaluate what you will and won’t put up with, given how much you do or don’t value the relationships. And if you’ve taken another look at your home and decided renovations are in order, thank Venus.

Speaking of retrogrades, Mercury, the communications planet, starts to go into a reverse cycle this month, too. This time around, it will be in the sign of Taurus, starting on April 10.

That makes the first 10 days of April time to back up your computers, sort out your travel plans and sign any contracts you would like to have set in stone. After that, we are in Mercury retrograde territory which means it’s time to rethink, revisit and revise everything!

Here is where Mercury retrograde is taking place for you this time around:

Expect to be doing some rethinking and reconsidering re your daily work and health routines. There could also be confusion in one of these areas. If you find an old health concern comes back at this time, try not to be alarmed and instead look at it as a chance to release the malady forever. There are times when Mercury going backwards means we can somehow put an end to something which started under a previous Mercury retrograde. So if you have a health problem which first emerged while this planet was in reverse, you may find the coming few weeks give you the chance to knock it on the head. This cycle is also good for anyone who’s fallen off their exercise routines timetable. Get back into them now and you shouldn’t have to wrestle too hard to keep it all up until at least the next Mercury cycle. At work, this period gives you the chance to renegotiate your daily duties. Think about what you would like to change. The key with Mercury retrograde is always to let the cycle unfold without making any major decisions, if you can. Mercury retrograde usually leads to more information being sent your way so it’s best to way and see what transpires before you act.

Just as Venus retrograde took us back to the place where we thought about love and our relationships, now Mercury retrograde is the time to think back or hark back to the past in a different way that’s more mental and less emotional.

The good news is that as Mercury goes backwards, it’s a really good time to say sorry or bring up something from the past that needs to be talked through. Of course, some conversations are best left in the past! However if you said something you want to take back, or indeed if you want to go back to somewhere from your past, that is all good under Mercury retrograde.

The Full Moon will be especially important to celebrate this month because it’s taking place post the Venus retrograde and while Mercury is retrograde. In other words, we can move on from the past, from part upsets in relationships and from relationships we no longer even want to be a part of.
