IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL THE SIGNS

It’s another eclipse month! Hot on the heels of the Full Moon eclipse on the last day of January or first date of February (depending on where you are in Australia – I talked about it here last month), mid-February brings a New Moon eclipse.

Eclipses are the times when the Universe changes gears. If you want to make a change in your life, then an eclipse month is an ideal time to do it – especially a New Moon eclipse month.

So think about now what you want for yourself in the year ahead. We are still only at the very start of the year, so if you have already fallen off your New Year’s resolutions promises, use the New Moon eclipse to recommit to your dreams and goals. It’s actually never too late to recommit, each monthly New Moon is a perfect time to do it – but the first New Moon eclipse of the year is a good time plus plus!

AREN’T ECLIPSES MEANT TO BE SCARY?

It’s true that back in ye olde days, people feared eclipses, especially partial and total eclipses of the Sun which they could see. They took place with no notice and the skies would grow dark, the birds would stop chirping and the dogs would howl … thereafter people would blame anything bad which happened on “that fateful day when the skies went dark…”

These days, we know exactly when eclipses are going to take place and we know they are nothing to fear. However most modern astrologers will tell you that they bring a chance to do something differently.

Imagine that you are here on earth with some kind of life purpose. Now imagine that your ego go in your way and you went off track and you need to get back on track. That’s when an eclipse is really handy. Sometimes what happens at the time of an eclipses can indeed feel a bit sudden and even shocking. And it’s true to say that sometimes what happens at the time of an eclipse can feel like a bolt from the blue. But more often that not, it’s the bolt you know you needed to have, it’s about the tie you knew you needed to sever, about the change you knew was required. Eclipses nearly always work out for the best, even if they are a bit intense at the time.

So get ready to make some wishes! The New Moon eclipse takes place on February 16, at 8.05am Sydney time.

SO WHERE IS THIS NEW MOON ECLIPSE TAKING PLACE FOR ME?

Great news! The eclipse is taking place in one of the best possible places for you – your 10th House which is the part of your chart which deals with your career. If you love your work but want to tweak your career direction, now is the moment to take action. Speak to the powers-that-be, find out what you need to study to get the right qualifications, etc. And if you’re happy in your work, the eclipse is still going to boost you – your professional stocks are about to soar. Hate your job? It’s make or break time!

AND HOW CAN I BEST USE THE ECLIPSE?

This particular New Moon eclipse in mid-February is taking place in the sign of Aquarius. (We all have Aquarius in our chart somewhere, that’s just how astrology works!)
Aquarius is the crazy sign that is all about change and progress. Here are the top ways to work with the energies, apart from making your wishes – applicable to everyone.

1. Be detached – if you’ve been too entangled with someone or something, use the cooler Aquarian energy to detach a little to give everyone some breathing room
2. Be true – to yourself. Sometimes we are so keen to please others, we fall over ourselves pretending to be someone we’re not. Not a good idea.
3. Be inventive – whatever issues you are facing this month, look for a solution that is nothing like whatever you have tried so far. Think different.
4. Be charitable – sometimes the best way to improve your karma and therefore your life is to do some good old-fashioned charitable work. (Aquarius a very charitable.)
5. Get connected – Aquarius energy is great for connecting with groups. Feeling lonely? Widen your social circle with – for example – a Meet Up group. Don’t scoff!
MOON TIMES

Plus of course, February also brings a Full Moon. Here are the complete February Moon times around the world:

Full Moon Eclipse on February 1 at 12 Leo
Full Moon Eclipse details:
SYDNEY: February 1, 12.26am
NEW YORK: January 31, 8.26am
LONDON: January 31, 1.26pm

New Moon Eclipse on February 16 (Sydney) at 28 Aquarius
New Moon Eclipse details:
SYDNEY: February 16, 8.05am
NEW YORK: February 15, 4.05pm
LONDON: February 15, 9.05pm

There is no doubt (at least in this astrologer/moonologer’s mind) that the eclipse in the middle of the month is (a) the biggest thing happening astrologically all month and (b) a chance not to be wasted (do your wishes, kids!)

But it’s of course, not the only thing! Here’s a rundown of another top 5 amazing things happening in the skies this month followed by a look at what February means for you. And then we will get into Valentine’s Day!

THE TOP 5 ASTRO EVENTS OF FEBRUARY 2018 APART FROM THE ECLIPSE

1. February 4 – 7 is strongly influenced by two Venus (love/abundance) alignments. If you can be loving and generous, without going totally over the top, you could turn things around for yourself and maybe someone you love, or you could turn your fortunes around.
2. February 15 – aside from the eclipse, this day also brings a lovely and sturdy link between Venus and Saturn. This not only makes the eclipse great for love and money, it also makes February 15 an amazing day to sign off on a deal, to get or make a promise, to stabilise your finances.
3. February 17 – possibly the most confusing day of the month so tread carefully.
4. February 21 – more romantic than Valentine’s Day (thanks to a lovely Venus/Neptune connection). Have a date night.
5. February 28 – a clash between comms planet Mercury and angry Mars wraps February up. Be nice!

YOUR MONTH IN A NUTSHELL…

February brings a New Moon eclipse, which is a super-powerful time for starting anything. In your case, the eclipse is directly affecting your work so it’s a super promising time for a new professional start of some kind. Also it heralds a big chance for you to shine at work. A financial contract which stands you in excellent stead is possible.

AND THEN THERE IS VALENTINES DAY TO THINK ABOUT…

If you have read this far, you have seen that there is a lot of Venus action this month. Venus is the planet of love and for most of February; she will be in arguably the most romantic sign, Pisces.

Here’s what that means for YOU:

Venus will be moving through your eleventh house of wishes and friends. This Venus cycle sprinkles some magic love dust over you and your friends. OK that might sound a bit ridiculous but watch over the next few weeks. It should start to become pretty obvious which of your friends are worth keeping for life, as your relationships grow warmer and lovelier. Anyone who makes you feel less than great about yourself could be cut off your Christmas card list now. Even if life has been tough of late, being with people you love will be extra rewarding over the next four weeks. Expect to find it easier than usual to meet new people, if you know the time has come to expand your circle. If there’s something you’re keen to accomplish now and you need a friend’s help, just ask. If you’re sexy but single and looking for love, this is the ideal time to either go to as many parties as you’re invited to, or to throw a party or dinner part of your own and see what happens. Anywhere that you have to spend time with lots of people rather than one on one is best for you over the new few weeks.

The hot February Venus dates are: 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, 25, 27. Some of more positive than others but overall, any Venus alignment is a good Venus alignment.

SOMETHING ELSE WORTH NOTING…

You may have heard about retrogrades – in other words, planet appear to go backwards in the skies from time to time. Mercury retrograde is the best known of these. When this happens, there is a tendency to go over old ground in areas governed by the planets concerned, depending on which sign they are appearing to reverse it. It’s a time of looking backwards, recovering old ground and sometimes doing things again and getting into mix ups.

But this month? No retrograde planets at all. Not a one! That’s quite unusual and coupled with the New Moon eclipse/new start further suggests that February is a time for moving forwards.

SPEAKING OF MERCURY – WHERE’S YOUR MIND AT?

Mercury will spend the first part of February in Aquarius, furthering the feeling of the cool and detached energy. So what does that mean for you?

There’s nothing wrong with ambition. It gets bad press. But unless you’re totally ruthless and hell-bent on clambering over others to get to the top, it’s actually a healthy fulfilment of our potential, to aim high and work at a high level It’s definitely time to turn your mind to your career and ambitions now – where you’re going, where you want to go and what you want to do once you get there. If you’ve got a job interview coming up, you should be able to prepare yourself excellently, and sail through it (just do the preparation with serious intent). If you’re in a job you want to go further with, now is the time to be formulating your plans. Many of you will find yourself working longer and later over the next few weeks but your efforts will be worth it. Don’t get bogged down in paperwork and procedures. If you need to speak to someone about your next career move, it’s a great time to book your appointment to have the chat. If you want to study to improve your work skills, it’s as an ideal time to be either booking yourself in for the course or starting it.

AND FINALLY … VALENTINE’S NIGHT?

If you’re hoping someone is going to put a ring on it, it’s really not out of the question that Valentines Day could be the day (or night). Here’s why:

1. The most obvious – Valentine’s day and night are probably the nights of the year with the most marriage proposals.
2. This year, Venus, the planet of Valentines, and love, will be connecting to the planet Saturn, the planet of marriage contracts, just after February 14.
3. The eclipse will make people do things they didn’t even mean to do!

The good news is that the afore-mentioned Venus/Saturn link suggests that even if someone is being very spontaneous on V-Day with their declaration of love or even marriage, chances are they will make good on their promises. Venus and Saturn speak of love that goes the long-haul, it’s all about the long-term and about commitment. So even if you’re not feeling all that romantic, V-Day could surprise you. And if you’re single on February 14, the stars are great from going out with other single pals.

SUMMING IT ALL UP…

If you work, part-time or full-time, this is an important month for you professionally. The New Moon eclipse is in your Career Zone. It’s the idea time to start a new job, to pick up some work or even get a promotion. If you don’t work, you can still expect to be recognised in some way for what you do. For example, you could receive an award or some kind of community acknowledgement. Lap it up!

HAVE A GREAT MONTH!

That’s it for this month. I will be in India for most of February, giving a talk about the Moon at a massive astrology conference and then retreating to my beloved ashram before meeting up with my beloved hubby and son and going north for a few weeks. If you would like to follow my travels, I expect to be posting about at least some of my adventures on Facebook and Instagram. Have a great month!
