Australia managed to scoop up 61 Gold medals and 1,066 awards in total, placing it second on the national scoreboard out of the 48 countries that entered. Aussie label Wolf Blass scored itself four Gold medals for its Black Label 2006, Gold Label Riesling 2008, Platinum Label Shiraz 2007 and Yellow Label Shiraz 2009.
The International Wine Challenge is the world’s most prestigious independent wine competition celebrated its 28th year this year. The winning wines were each taste tested by panels drawn from over 400 experienced judges.
The International Wine Challenge’s trophy winners, selected from the Gold medal-winning wines, will be announced in June.
