Last night man-of-the-moment Leonardo DiCaprio co-hosted the 11th Hour Auction at Christie’s in New York City. The event, which was held to raise money for the environment and wildlife conservation, raised an extremely impressive $35 million – almost doubling the goal of $18 million.
As well as co-hosting the event, Leo contributed a piece from his own art collection – a print titled ‘Ocean V’ by photographer Andreas Gursky.
Naturally, the room was filled with celebs including Leo’s friend and Great Gatsby co-star Tobey Maguire who put in a winning bid on one of the 33 pieces of contemporary art up for auction. Bradley Cooper, Mark Ruffalo, and Salma Hayek were also in attendance to support the cause.
Now, Leo and a bevy of other celebs are headed to Cannes where The Great Gatsby will be opening the Cannes Film Festival tomorrow. Stay tuned to RESCU’s celebrity spotlight for updates!
After making the brave admission that she has undergone a double mastectomy, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt may be pushing their wedding plans forward.
The pair have been engaged since 2011 but, as a source told MailOnline, “Brad has been caught up in production turmoil with his new film World War Z, so there have been no wedding plans as a result, but Angie has said it will happen sooner rather than later… They are for all intents and purposes married, but it’s become clear that it’s important to them to make it official.”
Since Jolie’s article, My Medical Choice, went live on the New York Times yesterday, celebrities have been praising her courageous decision. Breast cancer survivors Kylie Minogue and Giuliana Rancic tweeted their words of support, praising the star for using her platform to educate women.
Soon-to-be husband Brad Pitt spoke to the Evening Standard about his fiance’s choice, saying, “Having witnessed this decision firsthand, I find Angie’s choice, as well as so many others like her, absolutely heroic.” He continued, “All I want is for her to have a long and healthy life, with myself and our children. This is a happy day for our family.”
Newly single Michelle Bridges stepped out in a bright yellow gown looking as confident and stunning as ever for the InStyle/Audi Women of the Year Awards last night. But it wasn’t her bright frock that was drawing all the attention – it was the man on her arm. The Biggest Loser trainer was accompanied by her co-star Steve ‘The Commando’ Willis and the two sent the media into a whirlwind of relationship rumours.
When asked if it was their official outing as a couple, Bridges told Confidential her and Willis were just friends and that, “We’ve been to quite a few events together and this is just another. We are mates and we work together and that’s that.”
Well then! There were plenty of other big Aussie names at the stylish event at Carriageworks.
