I’m celebrating just four weeks until winter retires for another year with juicy, spicy and celestial new colour collections from a few of my favourites. Combine tantalizing colour and a heavenly body wash and not only do you have the week in beauty, but I’d say that’s happiness bottled.
YSL Orange Art Factory for Lips and Nails
In short, this is collection possesses the perfect pop of colour to lift the face and inject some much-needed sunshine into the mid-winter blues.
This glossy, juicy orange is your first port of call to conquer the sport-luxe glamour trend with the vibrant vinyl-like shade lending itself to that of a freshly painted sports car.
Turn up the heat with the deeply saturated Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres in Orange de Chine. You can choose from less intense colours from the collection, but why do YSL colour at all if you’re not going to do it all the way? It’s twice the shine and pigment perfect without the sticky, gooey feeling – lip lacquer done right. For pop art nails channel Factory Girl chic with the zesty La Laque Couture in Orange Fusion.
RRP: $39-$50 from YSL counters in Myer and David Jones nationally
DIOR Fall Collection 2013
I’ve always been starry-eyed when it comes to the Dior colour collections but the Fall 2013 enters a whole new galaxy of colour. It’s serious sci-fi shine with extra terrestrial iridescence. Pull out the mysterious Dior woman within on those frosty nights with an eye palette that’s set to get the mercury rising. The Dior 5 Couleurs Mystic Metallics palette is quite unlike anything I’ve seen from the fall couture collections and this one really lends itself to makeup artistry – something you can really have fun with, a futuristic showstopper. Go for a silver winged shadow or a bold emerald or violet liner for seriously magnetic eyes – and don’t forget to add a little water to your application for instant intensity.
RRP: $103 available from Dior counters nationally
Lush Dreamwash
This little piece of happiness comes in the form of a vegan cream cleanser that I have found to be so soft and delightful to use (coming from a long-time body-wash enthusiast) especially for sensitive skin. The added benefit of reducing skin flare-ups including body breakouts is an absolute a joy and revelation.
A smoothie for your skin, the soothing calamine calms dry, red skin along with aloe vera, rose, tea tree and lavender.
RRP: $25.95 available from Lush stores nationwide
Rimmel never disappoint when it comes to a seasonal pout, and the Apocolips Lip Laquer is no exception. Cheap and cheerful with beautiful colour payoff and shade selection, I highly recommend this lip lacquer as a permanent handbag fixture. With gloss and shine coming back this season with unrivaled force, this is the easy way to acquire a high fashion look without the high price. It’s the finish of a lipstick with the high shine of a lip-gloss. And as the creamy conditioning formula features pure colour pigments, you can’t go past Stellar for a quintessentially British statement pout.
RRP: $15.95 Priceline, Kmart, Target, Big W, Coles supermarkets & selected pharmacies nationally.
