Ever wish your man would just pick up a moisturiser and actually use it? Or is it the fact that he keeps, secretly, stealing yours? If you are like me and love your skincare, I am a ‘hands off my products’ kind of guy and would rather a partner get their own! But, on the other hand would be happy to know my partner actually cares and is secretly using my products to look and smell good, for me hopefully!

Sharing skincare is very common amongst couples and there are so many ‘unisex’ style products and brands on the market. I have had a few girlfriends of mine tell me their partner were using products from their bathroom, so they purchased some men’s skincare for their man and he never used them – funny lot us blokes are!
Most men like simplicity and to not be told or made to use something that maybe they are not 100% into. Yes, he might use your products, but upon the delivery of Men’s Skincare to him, he could take that as a commitment, or you are trying to tell him something, one that if your products were not there anymore, he would not be bothered either way.
If your man is a complete novice and you would like him to start taking grooming a bit more seriously, I would purposely leave out some moisturizer, so that it encourages him to take a pump and see what all the fuss is about. A bright pink jar may not totally convince him, but if you purchase skincare that is neutral in packaging, no fancy gold trimmings, he would be more inclined to use it.
To be honest, the textures and ingredients are very similar from Men’s to Women’s products, so just because it does not say ‘Men’ on it, or vice versa, it is still better than using nothing at all to soften skin for a healthy glow.
*MB Tip – My fave unisex brand is Kiehls and their Ultra Facial Moisturiser is great as it can be used by both sexes, it is a no frills straightforward quirky brand with packaging that both sexes can relate to well. The texture of this product is not a heavy cream formula that guys normally steer clear of.
If your man is a bit more clued up and likes one of your serums or moisturiser’s, some brands do a matching men’s version. He might love using yours, but to have that in his bathroom could be a no no in man’s world!
The men’s version could have a multi-use formula, lighter, masculine scent and obviously men’s packaging. Knowing it is the same base ingredients that he loved from your product, but is now just a men’s version could be the answer to finally getting him to have his own men’s grooming product!
Try… Lancome’s Genifique for Woman and Genific for Men
* MB Tip – Always use the word grooming with a man! It seems less feminine than beauty, cosmetics or skincare, which might ring alarm bells in his masculine head. These day’s men’s grooming sites and blogs are increasing with greatness because of their masculine approach.
Lastly, the metro guy that doesn’t mind to show off that he uses men’s skincare. Just because he is into grooming, he still may not want a big cosmetic, women’s based brand for his choice of lotion – remember, he may still want his own skincare identity.
Also, two in one products are not normally my cup of tea as I know the benefits of having separate products for different areas, but a hair and body wash or a cleanser with exfoliant beads in it will always win over a bloke.
So ladies for men it’s all about; Easy, less time, less products to display, light texture = easy skincare!
* MB Tip – Guys love anything easy to use, like a lotion with a pump! Masculine packaging, the word ‘Light’ in the title as he knows it won’t feel greasy like a cream. Molton Brown is the perfect answer for a guys needs, looks good in the bathroom and gives results it promises.
