Marilyn Monroe for Chanel
Legend has it that Marilyn Monroe wore nothing but Chanel No. 5 to bed.
In 1952, Marilyn was candid in her declaration to Life magazine when she replied to a query as to her sleepwear, “I only wear Chanel No 5.” which has been much-quoted ever since.
Now, after more than fifty years, the House of Chanel has unearthed footage of this quintessential woman declaring her love for the classic feminine fragrance.
In the footage, shot several years after the Life article, Marilyn told Marie Claire’s George Belmont “You know, they ask me questions. Just an example: ‘what do you wear to bed? A pyjama top? The bottoms of the pyjamas? A nightgown?’ So I said Chanel No. 5, because it’s the truth…And yet I don’t want to say ‘nude.’ But it’s the truth!”
Marilyn will join the ranks of Chanel faces alongside Nicole Kidman, Audrey Tautou and most recently Brad Pitt in the fashion house’s latest campaign.
Perfume truly does not get much more feminine that Chanel No 5; the house’s founder, Coco Chanel, was after all looking for the scent of ‘woman’ for this timeless fragrance.
More than fifty years after her death, Marilyn Monroe remains the epitome of sensual femininity, and we couldn’t think of anyone more perfect to front the upcoming Chanel print and television campaign, which will be released in November.
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey to Host Golden Globes Until 2015
After a hilarious hosting gig at this year’s Golden Globe Awards, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are set to return for another two rounds, signing on until 2015.
Their gig hosting the awards night in January this year was met with much acclaim, and helped score the show its highest ratings in six years.
The hilarious duo poked fun at previous host Ricky Gervais’s three year run as host, with Amy jibing “We want to assure you that we have no intention of being edgy or offensive, because, as Ricky learned the hard way, when you run afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press, they make you host this show two more times!”
While they may not have irked the Hollywood Foreign Press, they have still been offered a three year hosting run based on the amazing reaction to their efforts this year.
Amy and Tina have made award shows worth watching lately; their stint at the recent Emmys, which mainly involved heckling Neil Patrick Harris from the audience was side-splittingly funny, and we’re sure that no-one will have any qualms about them returning for the Golden Globes.
A representative of NBC, the network that broadcast the show, said “Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season.” We can’t help but emphatically agree!
