When we asked Melissa Hoyer to bring her three favourite beauty products to The Beauty Bubble, she brought thirty. The social commentator, editor at large at news.com.au, TV regular and personal style star loves her beauty bag. In this week’s Beauty Bubble she sat down with the Rescu. Beauty Expert Michael Brown to share the beauty tips and tricks she just can’t live without.
For Melissa Hoyer beauty is about confidence, knowing who she is and feeling comfortable in her own skin. ‘In this world that we’re in, you see so many women and men trying to buy beauty,’ she says. ‘But it is that innate thing – I think as you get older, it’s that sense of knowing yourself, what suits you, what doesn’t.’
When it comes to Beauty Icons, Melissa Hoyer tends not to draw inspiration from celebrities. If she absolutely had to choose one particular beauty icon it would be Audrey Hepburn – ‘you look at her and just really see that exquisite face, those amazing eyebrows, it’s just all there… that look is so now, the brows!’
Melissa Hoyer’s gorgeous signature look combines quality skin care, a light foundation (she hates to look ‘pancakey’), smokey eyes and red lipstick. For her eyes she likes Rimmel Scandaleyes Thick & Thin Liner ($12.95). ‘I tend to smoke it out a lot, I don’t like a really fine line… I’ll use maybe a liquidy liner, but then I’ll just smoke it out’
For lips, she can’t go past a good red lipstick. ‘The lipstick that I’m absolutely obsessed by is Natio, just from the chemist,’ says Melissa. ‘It’s probably the best red I’ve ever found, it stays on, it’s a really good red.’
For an immediate lift, she’ll grab her trusty red lipstick. ‘If I put lipstick on, I feel as though I’m sort of dressed.’
Melissa Hoyer’s Top 5 Can’t Live Without Products:

‘It plumps the skin. It’s a really good hard working serum’ Luminesce is available at jeunesseglobal.com - Primer – Melissa Hoyer loved her facial primer, which she buys from Zecca Cosmedical Clinic, where she goes for facials. ‘They have their own collection so I love using theirs.’ Zecca Cosmedical Clinic is located in Alexandria, Sydney. 02 8394 7400
