This week’s Full Moon eclipse takes place in Libra, the sign that is all about harmony and negotiations. It asks us to find a balance in our lives between how much we give and take. Doing this can improve our life in general, it can boost our love life and even our finances.
So as we approach the Libra eclipse, it’s time to ask ourselves:
HOW MUCH DO I DO FOR MYSELF?
Are my needs being met? At work, at home, in my friendships?
How are your levesl of ‘self-care’? As kids we are taught not to be selfish. But there are limits to how far this idea needs to go.
If you’re a busy parent, for example, and you’re running yourself ragged looking after your kids while also trying to please your spouse and your boss/clients, then in the end, something has to give.
No kids? It’s still easy to give way too much more than you take. In particular if you’re a people pleaser or you’re insecure about being liked for who you are, it’s easy to bend over backwards doing good deeds for others without letting anyone give you anything back. Not only does this drain you, it also makes the people around you uncomfortable. Good people don’t feel good about one-sided relationships.
If you can see yourself in any of this, this eclipse is made for you! Use it to restore balance into your life.
Action plan: You need to carve out Me Time. Literally put it in your diary. What makes you feel better? For some it’s a long hot bath, for others it’s a chance to do yoga, for others still, it’s about having a walk or reading a good book. Even if it’s only half an hour a day, or even an hour a week, make it happen. No excuses.
HOW MUCH DO I DO FOR OTHER PEOPLE?
Am I being selfish? At work, at home, in my friendships?
Having said all this, this week’s eclipse, in the partnership-oriented sign of Libra, also asks us to look at how much we are doing for others. The signs involved are Aries (Me! Me! Me!) and Libra (You! You! You!) (and before any Aries take offense, we all have Aries in our chart somewhere – but that’s info for another time!)
So ask yourself now, do you have a balance between Me and You? Are you doing as much for others as they are doing for you? Are you expecting too much? Are you possibly even taking advantage of someone and their good nature, or profiting because you know they are insecure and you have ‘the power’ or the upper hand somehow?
Evening up how much we are giving and receiving opens us up to happiness. Balancing give and take can improve our love life, our friendships and even our finances. How so? Because when we give and take, we allow for flow.
Action plan: This is easy. Write down your top four favourite people. Over the coming four weeks, be sure to do a random act of kindness for each of them. Then repeat or choose another four favourite people. It could be anything from offering them a lift to or from the airport to cooking for them to giving or buying them a massage because they need it.
Let it go!
The other really brilliant thing about this week’s eclipse is that it allows us to draw a line under any past issues we have had with VIPs in our life in the past 19 years! Yes, 19 years. That means with any upsets with our lover, spouse, ex, parents, siblings, best friends, neighbours, colleagues, clients and pretty much anyone else you can think of.
In other words, the Full Moon eclipse this week is a gift from the heavens. There is no need to fear it. Instead, use it to look at your most important relationships – personal and professional. Radical change is possible!
The exercise below will help you to release any lingering resentment. While staying angry night feel good, forgiving feels better. As Buddha said “Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” Quite!
Happily for us, Libra is also all about negotiation. So it’s always worth talking things through, if you feel there is still some room for improvement.
However if you can’t see the way out, the eclipse could be the right moment to release someone from your life. Do be aware, though, that what you let go of at the time of an eclipse is usually very permanent!
Have you loved and lost?
As well, if you have loved and lost someone in the past year, use the eclipse to let go of that relationship energetically, so you fully open up to something or someone new. The key to doing this is also through forgiveness. Forgive that person for whatever you feel they did and forgive yourself, too! (Fyi this deletes the karma, as well).
Before the little ceremony, here’s a quick rundown for all the signs about where the eclipse is urging you to “let it go!” If you know your Rising Sign, read that too:
Aries – let the past go, in one important relationship. Start again.
Taurus – your work and health routines are changing, almost certainly for the better
Gemini – there is change due re a romance, a child or a creative project
Cancer – something to do with your home or family is moving into a new cycle
Leo – let go of an old argument, change the way you communicate
Virgo – your finances are coming to a head – turn things around
Libra – turn and face the direction you want to go in – your whole life can change!
Scorpio – allow your spiritual life to evolve and see where it leads you
Sagittarius – it’s time to release a friendship you have outgrown. A dream could manifest
Capricorn – exciting, ‘peak’ times at work are forecast
Aquarius – it’s time for you to step back and see the big picture. Now. Where are you?
Pisces – change is due re sex or money or both
And here is a little ritual you can do, to release any upsets from the past:
1. Light a candle on the night of the Full Moon eclipse – these are the times around the world
Full Moon Lunar Eclipse 15 degrees Libra
SYDNEY: April 4, 11.06pm AEDT
LONDON: April 4, 1.06pm BST
MONTREAL/NEW YORK: April 4, 8.06am EDT
AUCKLAND: April 5, 1.06am NZST
PARIS: April 4, 2.06pm CEDT
2. Grab and pen and paper. Think about the upset you want to release. Write down a little about what happened. Note how you felt about it and how you feel now. Be honest. Were you selfish? Can you learn from that?
3. Send forgiveness to the other person or people involved in this situation. Then send – wait for it – gratitude. Yes, gratitude! You had a soul contract with that person. They were involved in this scenario to help you learn something.
4. Very carefully, burn the paper (preferably outside in a garden or over the kitchen sink – the aim here is to release your thoughts into the ethers, not to burn your house down!)
5. If you really want to seal the deal, then close your eyes and spend five to ten minutes just siliently chanting the word “Ommmm…” Acknowledge ideas come to you. Write them down if you like. Then return to the word “Ommmm…”
6. Now that you are totally Zen, recite this amazing affirmation from Charles Filimore – it’s called A Formula For Forgiveness. An all-inclusive prayer of forgiveness is this: “I forgive everything, everyone, every experience, every memory of the past or present that needs forgiveness. I forgive positively everyone. I also forgive myself of past mistakes. The Universe is love, and I am forgiven and governed by love alone. Love is now adjusting my life. Realizing this, I abide in peace.”
What happens at the time of an eclipse can sometimes be rather dramatic and even difficult to take. However it is almost always for the best. Therefore what seems so hard now could very well turn out to be very much for the best a little way down the track. So do try to keep the faith.
