It’s Pink Hope’s Bright Pink Lipstick Day, so make your pout count by making a promise to kiss and tell about your family health history.
As Australia’s only hereditary health charity, Pink Hope uses Bright Pink Lipstick Day as an opportunity to encourage Australians to start a conversation about their family’s hereditary health, specifically their risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
For the second year, Bright Pink Lipstick Day has once again signed on the support of Australian supermodel Jessica Hart, collaborating with her cosmetics brand LUMA by Jess Hart and designing a pink Hope lipstick. Jess is once again joined by her sister Ashley Hart.
“Bright Pink Lipstick Day is all about raising awareness of hereditary disease. We want to ensure all Australian families are talking about their family health history. Without starting a conversation, many families can often be left in the dark when it comes to their future health.” said Jess.
Krystal Barter founder of Pink Hope said, “Currently, more than 240,000 women and men are at risk of hereditary illness, or carry a genetic fault that can lead to breast, ovarian, prostate and other cancers. The issue for many carriers of a hereditary gene is that they’re not aware of their family history, and often, many find out about their condition when it’s too late”.
Last year, Bright Pink Lipstick Day reached over 92.7 million impressions and thousands of bright pink pouts were uploaded on social media all around the world. “This year we aim to raise $250,000 and invest the funding into our critical prevention programs and support services which help families assess, understand and manage their risk of breast and ovarian cancer,” says Barter.
