Australian celebrities and high profile fashion, media and business personalities united last week in a bid to raise funds to support the Pain and Palliative Care teams at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. Hosted by Channel 7’s Sally Obermeder and Larry Edmur, and attended by celebrities including The Block Judge Darren Palmer ahead of the season Finale, the highly anticipated event successfully raised over $770,000 and counting, for Australia’s sickest and most vulnerable children.
Held at the exclusive Hyatt Regency, guests were treated to a menu designed by celebrity Chef Justin North and were given the opportunity to bid on luxury items, including a weekend escape with One&Only Wolgan Valley driving a Ferrari California T, excusite diamond jewellery from the House of K’Dor and money can’t buy experiences, all in the name of charity.
sunSCHine founder and chair Nikki Dunlop, along with the powerful women that make up the sunSCHine committee, including Rescu. Editor and Founder Bahar Etminan, are passionate about making a difference in the lives of sick children.
Nikki Dunlop says “From its inception sunSCHine has raised over $2.75 million for the areas of greatest need within Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. I am overjoyed knowing the funds raised last night will help create a space where children with life limiting diseases and their families can make the most of the last precious moments they have together.”
The elegant event was also a highly emotional night with beautiful stories of love and loss that prompted an outpouring of support and generosity from everyone in the room. The room came to a breathtaking standstill as Emma Birdsall, accompanied by her husband Dan May, performed an acoustic version of Field of Gold to a backdop montage of children touched by the Palliative Care and Pain Unit.
McGrath Auctioneer, Scott Kennedy Green was incredible as the celebrity auctioneer, brining his signature charm and persuasive powers to raise an incredible amount of money for auction and hospital equipment items.
The success of the event was made possible by the generous contribution of sponsors and event partners including, Wedded Wonderland, event social media partner, Eventing Edge, event and theme management, Marnie Skillings, creative director, La Fiesta Sound System, entertainment, Champagne Pommery and The Centennial Hotel.
