Have you ever read your horoscope and just not related to anything it predicted? Perhaps you’re a Taurus with more tremors than temper, or an Aquarius with the dominant heart of a Leo. If something just doesn’t sit right with you and your zodiac sign, we may finally have an explanation for you.
BBC’s Stargazer Live Presenter Dara O’Brien has sprung open an astronomical revelation: There are actually 13 star signs, not 12. This means zodiac signs and their corresponding dates are about to get a shake up.
When the star signs were first set over 2,000 years ago, the Stars correlated to a constellation that appeared behind the Sun on that day. However, since the occurrence of this astrological wonderment, the constellations have drifted, and thus the signs set under this time are now inaccurate.
What does our resident stargazer Yasmin Boland have to say about this new finding? “Astrologers always knew that the circle would become “misaligned” with the constellations,” she says. “That wasn’t the point. Precession of the equinoxes is why we get a new pole star every few thousand years. The Stars were really just a backdrop to the Babylonian concept of the 360 degree circle. As for Ophiuchus, it’s a pure furphy. There is no need for a new sign.”
What we should now be looking at is not the static constellation set that appeared when the zodiac was devised, but the one that was behind the sun on the day we were born. As suspected, these differ greatly to the starsigns we believed we fell under.
Take a look at the revised Zodiac signs under this new law:

The only Zodiac sign linked to a real man, Ophiuchus was an ancient Egyptian who pioneered knowledge and use of medicine, and the art of healing to mankind. This is why the snake or serpent is still widely used to represent medicine and doctoral care today.
