The most anticipated Network Ten reality dating series of the year, The Bachelor season 4, kicked off last night and by no means disappointed.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, this season our eligible bachelor is runner up of last year’s The Bachelorette with Sam Frost. Australia’s favourite contestant, the handsome, charming and genuine Richie Strahan, was sent home… but only to come back as this season’s Bachelor.
Last night Australia watched Richie step out of the limo as he arrived at the mansion to start his journey toward finding love. The 30-year-old West Australian ropes technician met the 22 gorgeous contestants, spending the night mingling amongst the many.
Who are the frontrunners? Who’s our predicted villain?
As always, the Bachelor wouldn’t be the series it is if the group didn’t come with a few interesting characters. From Noni the bacon lover (so much so that she has the word tattooed on her foot) to Janey the Disney princess who proceeds to leave her shoe behind with the hopes that her prince charming (Richie) will come and sweep her off her feet in a Cinderella fantasy.
Richie took a particular liking to Alex, who reveals to him that she is a single mother to her 5-year-old son, Elijah. Although their conversation gets cut short by a typical cocktail party interjection, Richie returns to find Alex later in the evening to present her with the White Rose.

What is the White Rose?
The White Rose, also referred to as the First Impression Rose, is given to a single women that is then not only safe from being eliminated in the rose ceremony, but is also allotted a date with the Bachelor. This was a truly gushing moment for all viewers.
And what about the red roses?
Richie also gave out a red rose at the cocktail party; a rose ensures the receiver is safe from elimination at the next rose ceremony. The red rose was given to Megan, the outgoing, ocean-loving and free-spirited frontrunner who has won Australia’s heart so far in the season. According to Network 10, Megan is also Sam Frost’s pick for Richie – that must say something!

Who’s the villain? So far it’s looking like Keira will be. Every season has a villain and Keria’s sassy disposition and commentary so far, including the likes of “she’s got the biggest bazookas you’ve ever seen!”, may give you some indication as to why we’re convinced…
