A glamorous Eastern Suburbs crowd gathered at Double Bay’s latest hotspot Pelicano Bar for a cocktail party to fete the unveiling of the 2013 Campari Calendar Exhibition featuring this year’s leading lady – the stunning Penelope Cruz. Thirteen images of the actress, shot by renowned photographer Kristian Schuller, were on display. The calendar’s secret theme of superstition was revealed to the world on Tuesday in Milan.
In keeping with the calendar’s theme, guests stepped under a fiery red ladder and were greeted by both a perched, black raven and their reflection in an oversized cracked mirror. The well-dressed crowd, featuring celebrities, socialites and media, including Rochelle Fox, Stuart Bedford-Brown, DJ Damon Downey, Annalise Braakensiek, Aasttha Ssidana, and Kris Conde-Bolos, feasted on delicate canapés and sipped on the many specially designed Campari cocktails lining the bar.
The calendar’s 13 images feature the 38-year old actress, dressed in bold red ensembles by Monique Lhullier and Salvatore Ferragamo and Chopard jewelry, kissing all things superstitious good-bye. Only 9,999 copies of the calendar showcasing eye-catching images of Cruz posing surrounded by black cats, stepping on a sidewalk crack, and behind an ice sculpture of the number 13, were printed for “friends of Campari.”
Sydney-siders, catch the calendar art’s free exhibition at Pelicano (24 Bay St. Double Bay). Now open to the public, the exhibition is on until Tuesday, November 20th, 5 – 10pm every night. For more information, visit www.campari.com.
