Anthony Bell, one of RESCU’s founding experts and Skipper of The Investec Loyal Yacht team, celebrated the victory of the 2011 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race with an exclusive Luncheon held at The Darling Hotel which raised over $300,000 for charities. Crew members Anthony Minichiello, Karl Stefanovic, Kurt Fearnley, Phil Waugh were in attendance as well as opposition leader, Tony Abbott. Rescu. is bursting with pride for Anthony Bell and his amazing contribution to charity, not to mention his strength of character in leading his team to victory in the 2011 Sydney to Hobart! Congrats Anthony!
At the Investec Loyal Victory Luncheon, the official ceremonies began with MC and The Morning Show host, Larry Emdur and The Today Show host, Karl Stefanovic as they took to the stage. The pair had the crowd in stitches early on, partaking in playful banter as Stefanovic challenged Emdur to return to the race together this year.
Past and present “supersailors” also attended the event including football stars Anthony Minichiello and Phil Waugh, as well as two-time Paralympic Champion, Kurt Fearnley.
Skipper and Rescu. Finance expert, Anthony Bell was joined on stage by Karl Stefanovic, Kurt Fearnley and boxer Danny Green, who brought down the house with his recollections of their incredible and tumultuous journey.
In addition to his effort and contributions Anthony Bell also generously auctioned off his prestigious Rolex watch, generating a whopping $25,000 for charity! The auction raised funds for The Humpty Dumpty Foundation and much needed and vital children’s medical equipment for Australian hospitals. The funds included a generous donation of $49,000 from the founder of Netscape and Silicon Graphics, Jim Clark and his wife, Australian supermodel Kristy Hinze.
Tony Abbott, The Hon MP also made a special keynote speech, and admitted he has set his sights set to be one of the ‘supersailors’. We’ll have to wait and see if the opposition leader is taken up on his enthusiasm to join the prestigious team!
