We gain an insight into Ayurveda with Farida Irani…
RESCU: What is Ayurveda?
Farida Irani: Ayurveda is the science of life or a lifestyle. The Indian science of Ayurveda is based on inherited genetic constitution and molecular biology (‘Vata, Pitta, Kapha’ – doshas), which treat different body types based on the earths natural elements. Vata = Air and Ether, Pitta = Fire and Water and Kapha = Water and Earth. We are born with all three doshas but one or two are more predominant than the other, depending on our genetic makeup. If we maintain the levels of the doshas inherent within us then we can maintain our equilibrium and well-being.
RESCU: How long has Ayurveda been practiced and in what areas of health and beauty?
Farida Irani: Ayurveda goes back 5000 years in written script but the origins of this ancient science is said to be over 40000 years old! Ayurveda introduced the following 8 branches of medicine:
1) Internal Medicine
2) Paediatrics
3) Toxicology
4) Opthalmology
5) Surgery
6) Psychiatry
7) Rasayana (Rejuvenation)
8) Vajeekaran (Vitality and Virility)
Ayurveda has specified ways in which aromatics, diet, herbs and cosmetics can help to sustain physical, mental and spiritual well being.
RESCU: How is the practice of Ayurveda relevant to beauty and skin care?
Farida Irani: Aromatic oils and herbs have long been used for beauty, health and spirituality in India. Indian women have always used flowers, herbs and oils for daily body care, which enhance their sensuality, revitalise their skin and balance their emotions.
The philosophy of this ancient science is practiced to date in Indian households and we at Subtle Energies have been pioneers in reviving the science of using rare and unique essential oils, long forgotten in traditional Ayurvedic practices today and not heard of prior in the Aromatherapy world.
RESCU: How can we incorporate Ayurveda into our daily lives?
Farida Irani: Have regular treatments with an Ayurveda practitioner and look after yourself daily with some basic rituals that keep you feeling invigorated and ready to face life’s challenges. Basic daily rituals can be simple techniques like self-massage, using Subtle Energies products specifically formulated to suit your individual needs.
Right diet, meditation, yoga and exercise in a balanced manner also help as a daily routine to keep your mind, body and soul in balance.
RESCU: What is an Aura and why did you create the Aura protection body mist?
Farida Irani: We are beings of energy and light and have an elector magnetic field, which we exude around us constantly on a soul level. This electro magnetic field expands depending on what and whom we are engaging ourselves with. When we interact with people we actually pick up on their energy fields and that is why sometimes we get attracted to someone, or find someone repulsive as the auras can clash.
In order to keep an Aura protected and balanced, the Aura Protection Mist has got rare and unique essential oils that help to protect the aura, and not let the negative energies permeate through. The oils used in the Aura Protection Mist have the special ability to protect and cleanse not just the aura but also your emotions and the environment, as essential oils are anti microbial by nature due to their rich chemical constituents.
RESCU: What made you decide to create an Ayurvedic skincare range and what are the benefits for users?
Farida Irani: We created the Ayurveda Aromatherapy skin care range as we specialise in Ayurveda Aromatherapy oil blends and have pioneered the concept since 1993. The benefits for users are plenty as they receive products that are completely pure and natural right from the active ingredients of the Subtle Energies’ Ayurveda Aromatherapy essential and base oils to the base products of natural pure plant extracts. These oils work not only on a physical level for the skin but help to balance on all levels; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Users are also being introduced at a basic level to Ayurvedic principles and philosophy thereby enhancing their lifestyles further.
Rescu. Recommends: We love the Subtle Energies Aura Protection Mist to clear out the energy of rooms throughout the house and also to spray and walk through at the end of a tough work week. We are also mad for the very excellent skin care range. For sensitive and dry skin, the Subtle Energies Cream Cleanser is a godsend- removes all make up including mascara. We also road tested the Pure Indian Rose Hydrosol and love it. A gorgeous spritz we have been using daily to refresh whilst in the hot steamy office, it really hydrates and invigorates all skin types.
