A Day with Aussie Influencer Sammy Robinson

Sammy’s day on a plate

Every day is different for me. Weekdays I always start the day with two pieces of sourdough and peanut butter but if I’m being extra fancy I will add banana on top. And coffee coffee coffee– a must! I drink almond cappuccinos.

For lunch, I usually have something with rice -maybe a curry or a stir fry which incorporates vegetables and a protein into the meal.

Dinner changes every night. I love to make home made pizzas where I will bulk up the vegetables on top, or a tomato based pasta of some sort. I love to end the day with a treat- sometimes that is a few rows of chocolate, some days it is the whole block!  I also love the Chobani flips (my favourite flavour is strawberry shortcake or almond coco loco).

For snacks I will usually have a Carmen’s protein muesli bar or a protein smoothie with berries and peanut butter. 

Did you get any expert advice to plan your nutritional program? 

No I haven’t! I have always eaten a well rounded diet and have never placed hard restrictions on myself. I find I don’t blow out if I let myself have chocolate everyday and a yummy meal like pasta. I make sure to control my portion sizes, that way I can still eat delicious foods.

I try to eat a variety of vegetables and fruits throughout the day too so I know I am getting nutrients. An example (very random) of how I eat foods I love while still getting enough nutrition is if I cook a meal like butter chicken, I will bulk up the sauce with lots of cauliflower, broccoli, capsicum, carrot etc and put it with brown rice. It tastes naughty but is so delicious and also nutritious. 

What’s your cheat meal and when do you have it? 

This is so hard to choose… probably the ideal cheat meal would be a burger and chips with a Marvellous creations Cadbury block and some Allen’s lollies like red frogs for dessert. 

What’s your beauty mantra or fave quote? 

I always remind myself that you could be the ripest juiciest peach in the world but there will always be people who don’t like peaches. No matter how hard you strive for perfection, it is unattainable because it is completely subjective. That is why it is most important to leave a lasting impression on someone through the way you treat them and the way you make them feel- not the way that you look.

Being active and radiant is one of your trademarks. What is your top way to keep fit?

My main source of exercise is weight training, I try to get to the gym 3/4 times a week.

3 of those sessions is weight strength sessions and 1 or 2 will be Barre/ Pilates/ Yoga. I go to flow athletic which offers all of the above so I try to make sure I find the time to get some yoga and pilates done too. 

How do you get and keep your healthy sun kissed glow year round? 

I love to go out in the sunshine for 10 minutes a day to eat lunch, making sure I have sunscreen on. I think it is so important to get a little bit of sun safe vitamin D as much as possible, it makes me feel energised- even if its just going for a walk.

I do also self tan year round with Bondi Sands because I don’t like to bake in the sun, so I owe a lot of my sun kissed glow to that.

Do you have any self tanning hacks that you can share? 

I love to take a makeup brush and blend the edges of the tan on the wrists, hands and feet. 

If I tan my face, I will take another makeup brush and blend it onto my face focusing on the areas where you would usually bronze. When I have tanned my face, I will usually only add a nice blush, highlighter, brow gel and lip gloss to liven up the face and skin. I always moisturise with Bondi sands Body Moisturiser to keep my tan lasting past a week.

How often do you refresh your tan and do you take all your tan off first?

I don’t usually top up the tan at all because the colour lasts so nicely on its own. If I want it to be really vibrant, I will add two coats on the same night and wash it off the morning after. Otherwise it is all about maintenance. 

What’s your ultimate outfit to show off your best physical assets? 

I love to wear a loose pair of pants like- baggy jeans or baggy linen pants with a little midriff top… so comfortable and cute.
