Cosmetic surgery expert, Dr Mark Kohout explains non surgical rhinopplasty and why you don’t have to go under the knife to get the look you desire!
Achieving a whole new look can be as easy as some minor tweaks and adjustments to the face, without having to go ‘under the knife’.
Simple facial reconstruction does not require a nip and tuck with general anaesthetic, and a common procedure now requested by patients and performed in my practice is a non-surgical Rhinoplasty, or otherwise known as a ‘nose job’.
As often done by women wanting a new hair style, patients often bring in a picture of a celebrity’s nose for inspiration. From here I’m able to get an idea of the shape that they’re after, and with technical intervention we’re able to create the ultimate nose with the help of computer imaging.
There are two options for non surgical Rhinoplasty, both permanent and semi permanent.
The non surgical Rhinoplasty is performed using a permanent filler called Aquamid, which is used for reconstructive purposes and gives immediate results. Aquamid is perfect for superficial adjustments in noses where either the patient has a slight injury, or a low nasal bridge. As Aquamid is a permanent filler, careful precision needs to be done to ensure that the liquid fills in the right location. If the patient wants to have it removed (which is unlikely), this will need to be done surgically.
Another alternative and semi permanent way to correct ones nose is with Sub Q – another injectable which is inserted under the skin and directly into the affected area. Sub Q lasts between 12 – 18 months, depending on the patient, and again, the results can be seen immediately. As the gel in SubQ is reabsorbable, there are no potential risks that are associated with the permanent correction.
Both treatments take place in my rooms and can be performed within half an hour with little down time. Sometimes clients experience slight bruising, but this quickly subsides and the effects are noticed quickly. Compared this with surgical Rhinoplasty, where these corrections re performed under anaesthetic, with incisions and possibly with tissue from other parts of your body, not to ention the several week recovery.
Non surgical Rhinoplasty starts from: $1700 for Aquamid and $990 for Sub-Q.
