Believe it or not, there are over 7 trillion nerves in the human body & we all experience sensations differently. In this article, Lady Friday introduces you to the shiver-inducing parts of your partner’s body which might not seem too special at first sight, but are packed with nerves to use to your advantage.
The Hip Flexor Muscle
You can find this just along and beneath the hip bone; it’s the thin strip of skin along the hip which tenses when you clench your stomach muscles. It’s also very sensitive to touch – many people are ticklish in this area, so be careful.
How to use it: When pleasuring somebody orally, incorporate a bite or lick to the hip flexors on both sides. Scrape them with nails when a partner is on top or within reach, and grab them to pull them closer to you.
Behind the Ears
This might seem slightly confusing and embarrassing – who spends their make-out time involved with ears? – but it’s not the canals themselves we’re interested in, it’s the soft skin behind (and, in some cases, in front of) the ear. They’re vulnerable areas which are rarely touched except by chance, so they might benefit from attention.
How to use it: Work your way down from this point to the neck, with gentle kisses. Don’t scratch or bite – this area is only thin-skinned and has veins underneath.
The Neck
The neck is classified in studies as the most neglected erogenous zone on the body – which is peculiar, because on both men and women it’s one of the most effective ways to raise the heart rate without plunging your hands into trousers. All areas of the neck, including the hairline at the back and the collarbone area at the front, are packed full of nerve endings.
How to use it: Tongues and gentle bites are very effective in this area, as are stronger ones if your partner has a higher pain threshold. Grabbing with your teeth and hanging on during sex may be an effective experiment. Drawing a piece of leather or cold material around the neck is also stimulating, though never tie knots around breathing pipes.
The Insides of the Thighs
These are often left alone on the way to the big prize – but the insides of the thighs are actually a worthwhile stop, particularly the fleshier parts towards the top. The area is so sensitive it responds to breath as well as touch.
How to use it: Massage gently during foreplay, grab during the act itself, and scratch with a thumbnail. Blindfolding a partner and using hot or cold things – marbles, for instance – on the insides of the thighs is a good trick.
The Spine
Be careful, here – it’s not always a good idea to be rough on the spinal column – but it is a sensitive area and, along with the sides of the back and shoulder blades, responds very well with certain people to a little stimulation.
How to use it: Find a pointed object – say a blunt pendant – and draw it all the way up and down the spine while kissing the back.
The Backs of the Thighs
The area underneath the bottom is, for some people, one of the most immediately erogenous areas of the whole body. It’s suspected this might be because grasping that area roughly triggers erotic areas of the brain. However, even gentle treatment can yield good results.
How to use it: Wet the area and blow on it, massage roughly with fingertips, or simply kiss gently in round patterns.
The Shoulder Blades
This is a person-to-person variation – some people have exceptionally sensitive shoulder blades, others couldn’t care less – but it’s worth exploring. Particularly note the soft area just as the sides of the shoulder blade meet the ribs on either side.
How to use it: Scratching is a good tactic here, as is grabbing strongly to hold on. Biting can be painful to the muscle.
Beneath the Belly Button
This is a classic unisex area which holds huge potential for sensual play. Don’t just focus on the straight line between the belly button and the pelvis, either – the areas on either side, including the hips, are good ideas too.
How to use it: Kisses and tongues are a good idea here, as is texture – a belt held or grazed over the area, for instance. Work your way not only up and down but around in light patterns, alternating pressure as you go.
