Modern, avante garde architecture inspired Estee Lauder’s Creative Make Up Director, Tom Pecheux, to create the Pure Color Modern Mercury Collection. This limited edition collection combines texture with visionary colour trends to create an artwork of molten metallic eyes, edgy matte lips and a twisted shade of green nails on a soft shimmering canvas of skin.
Polished Luminous Skin
Giving the impression of golden pigments and pearls atop the skin, the new Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelee polishes the skin to glowing, sexy perfection. A system of liquid, powder and gel gives the complexion a beautiful, goddess like luminosity. When applied dry the effect is a soft shimmer across the skin, as opposed to the intense splash of colour when applied wet.
Limited Edition Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée RRP $75.00
These texturally graphic eyeshadows use a mysterious blend of metallic, reflective hues to illuminate the eyes, becoming the focal point of the collection. This ultra-modern eye look is then finished off with pearlised shades of new Pure Color Liquid eyeliner, which dramatise the eye with a sparkle application.
Limited Edition Pure Color EyeShadow Duo RRP $58.00. Limited Edition Pure Color Liquid Eyeliner $42.00.
For unparalleled sophistication and glamour, lips are dressed in classic shades of raw beige, pretty magenta and true red. The creamy, matte formula is rich in pigment, for statement lips that are iconic and beautiful.
Limited Edition Pure Color Velvet Lipstick RRP $47.00.
The twisted shade of green nails adds something different to the whole look, with a mix of classic and modern edge. The deep hue of Metallic Sage is a stand out, bringing together the whole avante garde collection.
Limited Edition Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Metallic Sage RRP $38.00
The Pure Color Modern Mercury Fall 2011 collection will be available for a limited time only at Estée Lauder counters nationwide and online at www.esteelauder.com.au from August 7, 2011.
RESCU’s Exclusive Q&A With Tom Pecheux About The Modern Mercury Collection
RESCU: What was the inspiration behind Modern Mercury?
Tom Pecheux: I was inspired by modern architecture, modern buildings and all the phenomenal reflections you see on glass buildings that show the skyline. Whether it’s a blue sky, a snowstorm or a beautiful sunrise or sunset, it’s never the same skyline colors you normally see because of the unique way the light is reflected off the glass. With Modern Mercury, you can be wearing the same colors, but you will never end up with the exact same look.
RESCU: Can you talk to us about the new Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée?
Tom Pecheux: It’s amazing because it really highlights different parts of the face. You can use it as a highlighter on the highest part of the cheekbone, for example, and it really lifts up the cheeks. It also gives skin an incredible glow and the color is suitable for every skin tone. You can also apply it wet and use it as an eye shadow. If you really want to draw attention to your eyes, you can apply it to the inner corners of the eye. Applying it wet is great when you want the look to be very sharp and precise, such as the corners of the inner eye – otherwise, it can be applied dry for larger areas of the face.
RESCU: What are your favorite products from the Modern Mercury collection, and why?
Tom Pecheux: I love them all because they all make women look and feel beautiful in a very sensual, natural, fresh, glowy way. I really love the matte lipsticks, which add a bit of drama to the face, especially when you have incredible shimmery, glowing skin. I also love the liquid eyeliners – their shimmer makes them incredibly eye-catching.
RESCU: How does the Modern Mercury nail lacquer shade complement the rest of the collection?
Tom Pecheux: It’s a beautiful camouflage-like color that is almost transparent, which creates a nude nail that is really easy to wear, as opposed to a strong, bright color. This perfectly complements the rest of the collection where the look is all about texture – shimmery skin with matte lips and striking, shimmery eyeliner.
