Going on holidays but don’t know what to pack?
You’re not alone! 64 per cent of people find packing for a holiday a stressful or frustrating experience according to a recent British Airways survey.
Which is why here at Rescu. we’ve invested the help of Australian stylist Sophie Hart to share her top tips on packing for travel plus her round up of must-haves fashion pieces for travellers.
What to pack for Summer Destinations…
For Mum:
The Silk Scarf.
I never travel without a selection of scarves -they are my essential suitcase item. Perfect for injecting colour into my otherwise neutral wardrobe. Pair them with your favourite dress, tee-shirt and jean combo or wrap your hair up when sitting by the pool in a one piece.
Metallic Sandals.
Perfect for day or night, metallic sandals go with everything and are the perfect staple to all summer wardrobes. Pack your favourites and you’ll only need to pack a few pair of shoes. They’re also quite small so slide straight into the side compartments of any good suitcase.

The Light Weight Knit.
It’s the perfect transeasonal item. If it’s warm out during the day, you can wrap it around your shoulders, or fold it casually into your bag. When the sun drops, it’s the perfect item to pop over your summer outfit.
For a Man:
A Stylish Hat:
Whether you like caps or a more a Panama kind of guy, no man should leave home without at hat. This saves days of searching for a hat once your reach yourdestination or worse embarrassing your travel companions by wearing one youfound at the local tourist shop.

Linen Shirt:
Nothing screams tropical holiday quite like a fresh white linen shirt. Not only are they great for sun protection, they look just as good crumpled so you no need to touch that ironing board. Worn with almost anything, they great forchanneling your inner tropical James Bond.
For the Kids:
Re-fillable Water bottle
Having a re-fillable water bottle in reach is handy for the whole family really and keeps the little ones happy and hydrated, especially when you’re planning on a big day of site-seeing. It’s really easy to find water re-fill stations these days with lovely fresh water on tap for your convenience.
Backpack
Essential for keeping all of the bits and pieces together! Planning an outing with kids is a big commitment no matter what age – find them a cute little backpack and pull it all together for them to pop on their backs! It makes it easy for them to reach in and grab a piece of fruit, their water-bottle or favourite toy when a little distraction is in need.
What to pack for Winter Destinations…
For Mum:
The Trench Coat.
Versatile, lightweight and always on trend, the classic trench will keep you warm, dry and stylish no matter what the weather brings. Perfect for wandering around and taking in the sites or hitting the stores, just add boots and a printed scarf for your own personal touch.
Clutch
A simple pouch or clutch is a versatile piece as it keeps all of your small items compacted into one which is easy to find in your large bag you may take with you and can double as a clutch by night. You don’t need all of the cards you use everyday whilst you’re on holidays, so it’s the perfect opportunity to downsize.

Costume Jewellery.
Losing jewellery whilst traveling is so easy to do. I always pack a few pieces of statement costume jewellery rather than over-packing lots of small bits and pieces. Your favourite versatile statement pieces can make you look fabulous whilst shopping as well as compliment a cocktail dress for a late evening European dinner.
For a Man:
His favourite pair of soft denim jeans.
So comfy and lightweight. I recommend an organic blend or style; He will find these a blessing on the trip! Super tidy to pack and will pair with most things in his luggage.
Travel Grooming Kit
Most of the skin care brands have now have a travel sized kit. A good moisturiser is essential for most men in colder conditions as the cool air can cause dryness. Some of my favourites include: Aesop, Kiehl’s and Dermalogica. These are perfect for men as they cover all of the essentials and you’ll find that if he needs more whilst away, they’re usually easy to replace.

For the Kids:
A Comfortable Shawl.
These are perfect for kids as they can double as a blanket when cold or folded into a pillow when they’re feeling tired and the parents stop in at a cafe for a midday pick me up.
Waterproof Outerwear.
It’s so easy for the little ones to catch a cold, especially when it’s raining so a good poncho and some boots are the perfect solution to making rainy days fun.
