It’s the iPhone lovers’ dream. Unveiled today by technology heavyweights, Apple, fans of the smartphone can now indulge their senses in the new iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, the iPhone Smart Watch and the a new mobile wallet that will allow consumers to simply tap their phones to pay retailers, aiming to popularise the idea of mobile payments.
Let’s get down to business… what’s new?
iPhone 6 Features:
- iPhone 6 has much larger screen than the iPhone 5s and comes in two sizes.
- The smaller version will be called the iPhone 6, while the larger edition will be the iPhone 6 Plus.
- The iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch screen, while the bigger iPhone 6 Plus will have a 5.5-inch display.
- Te iPhone 6 features curved, thinner edges that resemble the iPad Air’s design.
- Apple is also upgrading the display technology it uses for the iPhone 6 called Retina HD.
- Apple also says this is the thinnest phone it’s ever made at only 6.9mm thin.
- The new iPhones can display more information when tilted to landscape mode orientation.
- There’s also a new one-handed mode that lets you navigate forward and backward while visiting a website by swiping.
- There’s a new horizontal home screen view for the home screen, and apps for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will automatically adjust to fit these larger displays.
- The iPhone 6 is said to be 50 times faster than the original iPhone.
- The new chip will be able to tell when you’re walking, bicycling, whether or not you’re climbing stairs, and more. The M8 comes with a barometer for measuring elevation.
- The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus will come with an 8-megapixel camera with a new sensor for taking better photos. This new sensor comes with Focus Pixels that enable the camera to focus twice as fast as the iPhone 5s’ camera. This is the same technology used in DSLR cameras, according to Apple.
- The new camera will also come with face detection for focusing on the faces of the people in your photos. It also has better image stabilisation, which means your photos won’t come out blurry.
iPhone Smart Watch Features:
- The iPhone smart watch will be available in 2015 with watches designed for men and women available in three distinct collections.
- You can personalise the watch faces, as well as their capabilities.
- You can also choose from up to six differently designed straps, which offers different types of functionality.
- With a crown on the side, which allows you to navigate the watch without blocking the screen, the Apple Watch features a shrunk-down version of iOS 8, highly specialised for Apple Watch.
- You view all of your apps as tiny circles on the screen, and touch each one to open it.
- To zoom into objects, you use the Apple Watch’s digital crown.
- You can also swipe through information efficiently, and you can even share data with other watches nearby.
- You can send drawings and taps to friends in a Snapchat-esque way, since the drawings almost immediately disappear after they appear on the receiver’s Apple Watch.
- It will keep track of your fitness goals, how long you’ve been sitting, or standing. You can also create and set workouts based on distance or calories you want to burn. And during your workout, you can see from a glance how far, or how long, you’ve been at it.
- You can control your Apple TV with the Apple Watch, or use it as a viewfinder for your iPhone’s camera.
- The Apple Watch requires an iPhone to work.
