There’s no doubt about it, Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn are one the most glow-getting mother-daughter duos out there! So when we heard Goldie had joined Kate and Almay in a one-off partnership for Mother’s Day, we jumped at the chance to ask them for their beauty secrets and to find out what working together is really like.

RESCU: You’re working together on an Almay Mother’s Day campaign – what has that experience like?
Kate Hudson: I’ve been working with Almay for some years, and it’s been an amazing partnership and collaboration, I’ve really enjoyed it!
When they asked if mom and I wanted to do something for Mother’s Day, I thought what a fun thing for us to be able to do.
And it has, it’s been super fun and we got to spend a day together getting made up and taking some pictures and talking to people.
As we’re doing these interviews, it’s really the first time that we’ve been able to talk about something that is so important which is the relationship between mother and daughter and the complexities of it and the joy that it’s brought me growing up.
Having such a close relationship with my mother and knowing that that really begins and ends with my mum and the type of mother that she has been to me. So it’s been a wonderful thing to be able to share that and share how important that relationship is.
Goldie Hawn: It’s something we don’t usually get to do. It’s like sitting down and having a like a little bit of group therapy… it’s been a really nice thing to share this time together.
RESCU: The Almay campaign images clearly radiate a genuine joy at the shoot.
Now, you’re both beauty icons in your own right, can you share your beauty secrets?
Goldie Hawn: I don’t know if I’d call it beauty, or more just ‘taking care of’. I wash my face every night and I massage it for about three minutes and then I put creams on my face and I go to sleep. And then I wake up ion the morning and do the same thing!
I put on a little sun guard in the morning when I remember and the rest of it is just making sure that you’re hydrated and that you eat a lot of oil based foods or oils and smile a lot.
Kate Hudson: Mine is pretty similar except I can’t use many products on my face because if it’s over-stimulated it goes crazy. So I kind of have to stick to soap and water which bums me out sometimes because I love products. It’s pretty simple – I’m not super fussy.
And then obviously with what people see for events, I have an amazing make-up artist who’s just brilliant so I get to have fun when I do events and stuff. You know, create different looks and have fun being a girl.
Goldie Hawn: I think sleep is also important!
Kate Hudson: Yes! Sleep, water!
RESCU: Kate, did Goldie ever give you an amazing piece of beauty advice that you swear by?
Kate Hudson: I think exactly what she just said — rest, sleep, meditate. You can put as much makeup as you want over an un-rested face but underneath you’re still not rested!
RESCU: Finally, what’s one thing about one another that you really admire?
Goldie Hawn: I admire Kate’s sense of privacy, her straight-forwardness and her fearlessness.
Kate Hudson: I admire my mother’s compassion, her strong sense of spirituality, her enormous capacity to love, and her work ethic as a real pioneering woman in our industry, you know being a director and an actor, being really the first woman to do that and to be able to maintain a strong sense of her family and presence in her family. Those are the things that come off the top off my head — I could keep going!
Rescu. Loves: Speaking to Kate and Goldie was like speaking to two old friends. Their on-screen exuburence, charm and warmth translated in our easy phone conversation with them and we have to say, we only love them all the more.
