Ever wondered what Australia’s most fabulous women keep in their beauty bags? These women have access to the very best makeup artists and stylists, and have each collected their own bank of beauty expertise. From their must have products to lust-worthy fragrances and most treasured beauty memories, Rescu. beauty expert Michael Brown will be uncovering it all.
Michael caught up with Sun-Herald fashion editor, fashion blogger, trackside style icon and all round beauty, Kate Waterhouse. Whilst we suspect that impeccable genes had a little to do with her stunning visage, Kate insists that skincare is at the forefront of her beauty regime. ‘My first memory would be skincare actually, My mum really drilled it into me,’ she says. ‘I always cleansed my face, toner, I always put moisturiser on for day and night, so I think that was my first introduction to beauty.’
When it comes to makeup, Kate keeps things simple – foundation, eyeliner and mascara are never far from hand. Her low maintenance, elegant look is inspired by the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren. ‘I love beautiful fresh skin. I think that if you can start with a great base, you can work with that. So for me, I love Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, that for me is a must.’
That said, makeup isn’t the be all and end all for Kate. On the true definition of beauty she insists, ‘Beauty is definitely confidence for me. I think that if I’m feeling confident I feel really good about myself. It might be coming out of the beach with no hair or makeup done but I just feel great, I feel really confident.’
