New York Fashion Week Gossip: Lindsay Lohan, Victoria Beckham & Rachel Zoe
It’s the week to end all weeks in American fashion – and the gossip is coming thick and fast.
Lindsay Lohan turned up at Cynthia Rowley’s runway show and apparently caused such a tremendous ruckus that a photographer was thrown out of the venue for climbing onto the runway to get her shot.
Elsewhere, new mother Victoria Beckham brought her baby Harper Seven to her preparations for her New York fashion show – her fourth, and always a highly anticipated ticket. Katie Holmes has also revealed that she’s ‘taken her child Suri out of kindergarten’ for the shows.
The big gossip for fashion plaudits, though? That Rachel Zoe’s new collection, supposedly influenced by ‘Brigitte Bardot in the South of France’, is getting scathing reviews from various corners, being called derivative and simply ugly. The stylist – also a new mother – has had no comment.
Oh, and the other big news: Anna Wintour was photographed laughing for one of the first times in her career.
Our pick of the shows thus far? Zac Posen, whose glorious fishtail dresses are always a big hit (if, perhaps, slightly safe).

Tommy Hilfiger’s Son Rich ‘Embarrassed’ By Interview
Rich Hil, the pseudonym of Tommy Hilfiger’s son, is receiving a lot of attention – for the wrong reasons.
He recently gave an interview to the Observer in which he discoursed extensively on ‘fags’ (protesting fervently that he wasn’t homophobic, while using the word to describe everything he disapproved of) and his nascent rap career.
He described himself as ‘the best rapper ever to come out of Connecticut’.
Now Rich has come out to say that he was ‘sad’ to read the interview and ensuing media storm, which accused him of being arrogant and over-privileged.
Adding insult to injury? His entourage at his father’s New York show was so large that the PR company in charge of the show moved several of his friends out of the front row.
At least Rich doesn’t plan on going into fashion.

Missoni For Target Crashes Website
Looking to get your hands on Missoni for Target?
You may have to wait a little longer. The line has proved so popular that Target’s site has completely crashed.
As we go to press, the site continues to be down. However, reviews are also coming in on the capsule collection – and they are uniformly positive.
It’s difficult to make the crazy Missoni prints and zigzags work for an audience which doesn’t consist of St Tropez starlets and movie stars at the beach, but it appears at the collection – which includes a bike- is equal parts high fashion and don’t-take-it-seriously fun.
This may explain the frenzy to get a hold of a piece of the line.
Fashion commentators now expect the brands to continue their collaboration in the future, so if you don’t receive a little piece of affordable Missoni this time around, you may have another chance in the future.

Kate Middleton: Trendsetter Or Not?
She’s the pretty princess we all dream of being – or is she?
Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, is coming under the fashion microscope – and is encountering increasing criticism for not being ‘fashion-forward’ enough.
When asked to dissect her style, the head of Nordstrom in the US determined that Middleton follows trends rather than setting them. Compare that with Carla Bruni and Michelle Obama, political figures who’ve both had major fashion clout in recent years.
The Nordstrom head, Gregg Andrews, insisted that nobody would look twice at Middleton on a New York street, as she only wears high-street fashion, not big designer pieces, and certainly doesn’t do anything particularly daring.
However, it’s debatable whether Middleton was ever meant to be a ‘fashion icon’.
‘Is she a fashion icon like Kate Moss? Absolutely not,’ said Elle’s fashion director Anne Slowey – and perhaps that’s just the way the princess likes it.
Do you love Middleton’s style, or do you think it’s too safe?
