How To Get Your Best Summer Body

We’re in the final countdown to summer and if you haven’t already been focused on your diet its time to start now. Cleaning up your diet and lifestyle will help you feel good and look amazing all summer long! RESCU talked to Zoe Bingley-Pullin, Nutritionist and founder of the online food program Falling In Love With Food who shared her expert tips on getting that summer body.

Everybody wants insight into how to get that beautiful summer body, and Zoe’s main tip is hydration, hydration, hydration!

“It’s really interesting, if you actually cut out all the excess caffeine, alcohol, soft drinks and juices you can drop between 1-2.5 kg a week,” says Zoe.

This might not be fat, but it will definitely be a fluid. So make sure to pump it up with lots of water and add some bitter foods into it. Lemon is excellent and lime works just as well. These bitter foods increase bile which helps us stimulate the digestive system, alkalize the body and gets you to absorb that water faster. The other thing we need is a lot of fruits and vegetables.

“You can try juicing, I do a vegetable juice every single morning, I opt for organic but that’s a personal choice because I simply want a better environment and I don’t want to have that excess heavy metals in my diet, ” says Zoe.

You can also do fruit salads, grated into salads, there’s lots of ways to get these veggies. You do need your 5 servings of vegetables which is about 2-3 cups, and you also need your 2 servings of fruit. The other thing to focus on is a lot of good quality lean protein. What protein does is helps to stimulate your metabolism, it’s low GI so that means your going to have a nice balance of sugar levels. It also gives your metabolism a bit of a boost because it uses energy in the process to break it down.

“It doesn’t have to be animal protein you can try things like beans legumes, I’m a massive fan of quinoa and freekeh, there’s so many interesting grains to use’ but try and make sure you’ve got it in every single meal and every single snack as well,” says Zoe.

Last but not least don’t forget the fat. This freaks so many people out but good fat is so important, we have fat in every single cell in our body. If your not getting the balance of good fat in your diet your simply not going to be burning that fat effectively. So fish, avocado, extra virgin olive oil, coconut vegetable oil, nuts and seeds is a great place to start. You’ll have that hot body by summer before you know it!
