Women throughout time have faced adversity. Think the Suffragettes who led the fight for women’s right to vote, Eleanor Roosevelt who challenged the traditional role of the First Lady with class and incredible impact, to Marlene Dietrich who championed women wearing trouser suits in Hollywood.
Each of these women’s achievements have paved the way for a better life for today’s women and girls. What has defined and shaped their histories have been their attitudes and tenacity—in other words, their immortal energy to never, ever give up and pursue their vision for an improved future. Natasha Stewart, founder of million dollar start up Business Jump, is all about empowering mums and women in general.
Retrospectively, it’s easy to look back and enjoy the empowerment and cheer supportively for their causes, but in their day, in the moment that they were up against the haters, the naysayers and the turned backs of society—it would have been anything but easy to march unwaveringly towards success or against the tide.
Thanks to the plight of these women, we enjoy a lifestyle today with rights and freedom—and their history and voices are ones that I take great strength from. I believe it’s up to today’s women to fearlessly continue the work of these women and continue paving a path for our children and sisters, to continue inspiring our future world leaders, to create an empowered world filled with freedom and equality.
As a business owner, it can be all consuming, challenging and exhausting to stay motivated. So, everything I can do to stay inspired and uplifted, you can guarantee I do it. From business coaches, professional development, training and webinars, to exercise, time scheduled for ‘balance’ to inspirational mantras – I’m around it all.
I’m fascinated and inspired by quotes and their power as an encouraging vehicle to help tackle any challenges that lie ahead—and quotes from these legendary women in history are the very best inspiration to use as motivators and mantras to help me put my life in context, set some seriously fierce goals and focus. They’ve truly been instrumental in my journey to create the million-dollar business and freedom I have today.
“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
There are times in my business where I really struggle with confidence and recently I was stuck in a bit of a rut—I was giving all my power to fear; and time and time again allowing fear to inform my decision-making process.
It took some time for me to step outside of myself, to realise fear and faith cannot co-exist, and that I had to choose faith in myself every time, no matter how hard it was.
Having faith in myself, and remembering that I can achieve my dreams is the most powerful mindset I can adopt, and it’s one that women commonly struggle with. I firmly believe it’s time to throw away the imposter mindset, and adopt the one of a fierce heroine.
Using quotes to inspire my fearlessness has gone a long way to help push myself towards a faith-filled and goal-crushing life. I take my leave from some of the fiercest women in history:
