It’s the race that stops the nation, but in the Birdcage at Flemington, it’s all about the beauty. We got to see all our favourites and get inspired from their beauty looks. I’ve rounded up my top 4 from this year’s races.

This was all about highlighting and Jodi had the most incredible highlight on her skin
Whether it’s day or night, you can make yourself look fresher when applying highlight above the cheekbone. Using a cream texture highlighter gives more of a glow than shimmer and leaves the skin looking hydrated and fresh. Therefore using cream will give a natural finish for daywear.
As it’s a day event, you can glam up your look, but keep foundation to a minimum where possible to avoid your looking to heavy. Adding powder on top gives a frosted finish and adds a pop to the look.
Only use powder on top of cream to give a fuller impact or use powder itself. Generally powder gives a more frosted highlight and cream gives a more neutral finish.
MB Pro Tip: Remember highlight points of face is peak of brow, ridge of nose, cheekbones, cupid bow to give pout.
Elyse Knowles

I love the bright dress and bronze makeup, when wearing a bright colour you want to keep your shades neutral as you wouldn’t want your look to clash. The look is perfect with keeping her face neutral, giving enough to make her eyes pop.
Using bronze shades with hint of copper can work with every eye colour, as it adds contrast, bring them out as a feature, like we see here with Elyse”
MB Pro Tip: If you’re ever confused with what colour eyeshadow to use when wearing a bright outfit, always go for bronze tones.
Nikki Phillips
Makeup by Michael Brown
I’m loving this dolce-inspired look from her dazzling red dress to beautiful crown hairpiece to her bold makeup.
She has gone with winged eyeliner and red lip as a feature of her look. When going for either one, you need to ensure that everything else on the face needs to be smooth and fresh. Neutral eyeshadow or blush balances with eyeliner and lip.
MB Pro Tip: Map out the outer wing when eye is open and start your outer wing from the lower lash line and that gives the wing lift.
