Rev your engine, Eat Sushi
According to relationship experts, eating Sushi on the first date boosts your chances of a second date by 170%. Not only does the novelty of this cuisine drive up your dopamine system, but the magical combination of raw fish, wasabi and seaweed rally together to help nab you that second date. How? The fish contains omega-3 fatty acids, optimal brain food to increase alertness, the seaweed’s iodine boosts sex hormone levels, and the wasabi elevates your heart rate. Sushi is the triple threat of second-date-securing food.
Get in the mood, try Oysters
The classic aphrodisiac! These slimy creatures are jammed packed with zinc to help boost testosterone and oestrogen production, crucial for sustainable sexual desire in women.
Spice up your date, add Chilli
Deemed the natural Viagra, spicy food, such as chillies are known to trigger the release of capsaicin – a feel good chemical which releases mood-enhancing endorphins and increases blood flow to all the right places. Ditch the salt and flavour your food with this zesty spice instead.
Stay alert, drink Water
Okay not a food, but to avoid dehydration, drinking plenty of water throughout your first date will not only help you stay hydrated and avoid dehydration-fatigue, (no one wants a yawning date) but helps to banish bad breath which is key if you’re gunning to lock in second date lip-locking.
Banish uncomfortableness, eat Veggies
Most veggies have a high water content, which serves as a natural diuretic (AKA a substance that will make you pee), though running to the bathroom every 2 minutes isn’t that desirable on a first date it thereby can help to purge your body of waste to ease belly discomfort and fluid retention, making for a much more comfortable and relaxed date.
Be calm, snack on mixed nuts
Most nuts are high in magnesium, which plays a key role in converting sugar to energy, while also being calming to the nervous system. Snack on some mixed nuts pre-dinner and stay cool, calm and collected throughout your date.
